Whether it is Fox News or MSNBC or CNN or any of the major networks or any other news and/or political media outlet, these outlets inevitably have their supporters and detractors. No station is immune from accusations of leaning toward one candidate or another when election time rolls around. From the dawn of the republic, the media has played a critical role in the carrying out of elections and the health of politics in the nation...

 

However, there ARE biases... just not the ones people most often assume...

 

After you get back from that link, gather back here and jot down your own thoughts pertaining to the strengths and weaknesses of the media vis-a-vis political coverage...

I don't know if the bias against intelligent thought is more or less damaging than the bias toward candidates, but only a rube would fail to recognize the reality of both issues. Media will always have it's flaws depending on the system it operates under. Media under Communist and Dictatorial regimes functions as the mouthpiece of the government. In a Capitalist society, media chases the almighty dollar. Truth, objectivity, and honesty always seem to get lost in the wash along the way.
