Anyone else think this was a really bad trade for the Oilers??

The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday for forward Jarret Stoll and defenseman Matt Greene.

i wouldnt call it a bad trade... i dont understand why they grabbed a offensive d-man... i thought thats what souray was for... maybe just making sure theyre covered if souray goes down again.... but moving stoll to make room for gagner and coligano make sense and greene was a replacable d-man... if you look at it that way its a great trade... current centers - horcoff, gagner, coligano, and probly reasoner... really no need for stoll... and he had a terrible year last year...

I got a feeling Stoll is going to turn it around, however that being said...the team he went to isn't exactly the place he'll get to do that.
Then again maybe that atmosphere may bring out what he CAN be

What did the Oilers see in vishnovsky?
Here I go:
- Hossa to the Pens
- Campbell in SJ
- Sundin to Vancouver

If they sign Hossa look for them to move Malkin next year at the latest.
Either that or they're going to end up with Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, and Fleury with nobody on the back end. If they keep all three up front...they're gonna kill the cap.

Campbell to SJ? could be...I think he may look to the East here though.

Sundin to Vanc. .. don't see it...but hey anything is possible lately..hahaha

what no sundin to tampa bay ideas... considering tampa is trying to sign everyone possible...lol

Campbell says he likes it in the east. Could he be going back to Buffalo? Maybe Sundin should takes notes from Campbell.

As for Visnovsky..........it MAY look like Pitkanen is going elsewhere if they cant settle his salary. He could be trade bait. I think i smell another K-Lowe trade in the works.

As for the Bolts........Malone,Roberts......maybe even Rolston to boot. It looks like they're top 6 forwards are settled. Is Huet going to the Bolts next? Hhahhahaha. That would be awesome if he did that. Tampa's top 2 lines:

Prospal-Lecavalier-St. Louis
Malone-Stamkos-Rolston
Roberts-------?----------?

Now that the Pens unloaded Malone (a bit too much $$ there) and Roberts will this force them to keep Laracque?

And do you think Talbot will move up from the 3rd line?

I just don't know about this Hossa and Malkin stuff. Malkin is 21. Do you want to sign him and then trade him after next season? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Would like to see Hossa back, that's for sure. But, like mhwings points out, that's a whole lot of $$ in 4 players: Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, and Hossa.

God i hope we land Hossa. Maybe the GM can structure the contract offer. Pay him 11 million the 1st 2 seasons and he'll still average out 6.83 in the last 3 seasons. 8.5 against the cap (average). Lets go Boston!!!

Pens have to keep someone to protect the skilled players.
Georges is tough but he's a fair hockey player as well..not just a goon so he may end up staying...but he was po'd about Roberts taking his place in the Finals.
I still say Orpik is gonna go as well...so you're gonna need someone on D

Gill is a pylon. What can you say about a d-man that Boston AND Toronto traded away? He stinks. He can only play good against Jagr. Thats it. Orpik sure made a name for himself in the play-offs. I wouldnt doubt it if the Bolts sign him. They do need another d-man over there.

As for Hossa.......i hope he doesnt go to montreal. Anywhere but there.

I HOPE Stoll turns it around; it's hard to see him go, he's been a good Oiler. I wish him well.
I don't know Visnovsky, I think I saw the Kings play only once last year on TV as well as once in London. He's kind of small for a defenseman but his stats seem pretty decent. Let's just hope the Edmonton injury jinx doesn't get him.

mhwings, I agree about the PEns killing the cap with Hossa. But they need to get a scorer for Crosby to stay lethal.
Didn't Malkin say somewhere he'd take a cut if needed. Now, that said, he's Russian and likes big bucks...

bostongm, I don't see the Caps letting Huet go especially to a division rival!
Olie seems to be wanting out and they do not want to find themselves with a rookie there. With the offensive-minded game they play, they need a solid netminder!
There's always Theodore if the Bolts want to do the Denis mistkae all over again ;-)

the bolts traded brad richards to get mike smith... im sure theyll give him time to prove he was worth it.... i doubt theyre looking for a goalie
