#1.Tom Brady, QB New England Patriots
How can you not put Tom Brady number 1. He led the league in TD's setting a record with 50, and led the league in completion percentage (68.9) and passer rating (117.2), not to mention a league leading 4,806 yards passing. Brady is a proven winner spygate or not and has 3 super bowl rings and 2 super bowl MVP's. Simply he is going to go down as one of the best players to ever play the game.
#2 Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Peyton is the clear cut second best player in the NFL in my opinion. A guaranteed 4,000 yards and 30 + TD machine he is the most ruthlessly efficient QB in the game. Rarely does he make mistakes and has carried his team to 5 straight division titles. Manning also has some of the best stats ever recorded, and I feel he is much closer to #1 than most people think. Simply he will also go down among the greats to ever play the game.
#3 LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, San Diego Chargers
Tomlinson is also very consistent never in his career has he had less than 50 catches, less than 1,200 yards or less than 10 TD's. He is the most complete back in the league and has the burst to blow by you, the elusiveness to escape tackles, the strength to break tackles, the vision to always know where to run and the intellect to understand what is necessary to be done. LT is a force who will not slow down until he retires.
#4 Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Peterson has established himself as the future face of the NFL. As a rookie he set the NFL record for yards in a game, and would have won the rushing title if not for his injury. On the season he ran for 95 yards a game tops in the NFL, 1346 yards and 12 TD's. Peterson has a unique blend of size and speed that makes him near impossible to stop, and I expect him to continue to improve and become the top player in the NFL.
#5 DeMarcus Ware, OLB, Dallas Cowboys
In year 1 of Wade Phillips scheme Ware broke out.He had 84 tackles and 14 sacks as one of if not the most feared pass-rusher in the game. His speed off of the edge is unmatched and he has the athletic skill to be decent against the run. Ware has over 30 sacks through 3 seasons and is just getting started I fully expect him to become a force in the NFL, and feared by all QB"s.
#6 Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota Vikings
Allen is the leagues most complete DE. He has great skills at rushing the passer leading the NFL with 15.5 sacks, and he made lot's of plays from his DE role, getting 64 tackles. He deflected 10 passes, showing his ability to make plays without getting to the passer. Expect a bigger season now that he is on an even better line. I feel that if Allen can keep it up he may challenge Ware as the best defensive player in the league.
#7 Nnamdi Asomugha, CB, Oakland Raiders
Yep Asomugha is a bette corner than Champ Bailey, but you wouldn't know it just glacing at the stats. With only 1 pick and 34 tackles he seems very average, but in fact Asomugha had one of the best CB years in a while. Asomugha only gave up 15 completions the entire season, while being thrown at 35 times. His ability to be a lockdown corner is incredible especially with the rules restricting so many things a CB can do. Though Champ is close, Asomugha is the best CB in the game.
#8 Shawne Merriman, LB, San Diego Chargers
Shawne Merriman is very similar to DeMarcus Ware, though he is not as good against the run. Merriman had 68 tackles and 12.5 sacks a season ago, and is up there with the best pass rushers in the NFL. His speed is solid, but he has the drive to get past any blocker, and make plays on the QB. If he improves against the run he will contend with Ware as among the best DE/OLB's in the game.
#9 Champ Bailey, CB, Denver Broncos
Bailey is another lockdown corner though I feel he is not as good as Asomugha, against the pass. Bailey is however great at stepping up in coverage and making a tackle, in fact he is quite a sure tackler, recording 84 a season ago. Bailey is maybe a more complete corner than Asomugha, but is not as good of a pass coverage man.
#10 Steve Hutchinson, OG, Minnesota Vikings
Hutchison is the best blocker in he NFL, especially against the run. Everywhere he goes success especially in the running game follows. When he was in Seattle Alexander was the best back in the NFL, now in Minnesota you saw how well Adrian Peterson did, not to mention Chester Taylor, numerous Pro Bowls, and all-pro appearances just strengthen may case.
#11 Patrick Willis, LB, San Francisco 49ers
Patrick Willis flies all over the field. Last season he had a league leading 174 tackles, yea 174!! He can make plays in the backfield and has the speed to fly from sideline to sideline making tackles. The defensive rookie of the year, and was also named to some all-pro teams, he has the skills to be one of the great LB's ever to play the game.
#12 Joe Thomas, OT, Cleveland Browns
Thomas is in my opinion already the best tackle in the NFL.His first season was absolutely amazing and he is a stud, who you can build a team around. Thomas is one of the key reasons for the breakout season of Derek Andersen, in fact I believe he is the best pass blocker in the NFL, watch out because he will be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.
#13 Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Westbrook is the best receiving back in the NFL. A fantasy savior to many Westbrook had a huge season running for 1,333 yards and 7 TD's and catching 90 passes for 771 yards and 5 TD's. You can't overestimate the importance Westbrook has to the Eagles, without him the West Coast offense the Eagles run, would not function correctly.
#14 Randy Moss, WR, New England Patriots
Moss broke out a season ago with 23 TD passes a new record and 98 catches. The best receiver in the game he has a scary ability to catch any deep ball, and is the best redzone threat in the NFL. When he gives it his all he is among the NFL's most talented players.
#15 Mario Williams, DE, Houston Texans
A year ago Williams showed why the Texas drafted him over Reggie Bush, and Vince Young, a move that in hindsight looks genius. One of the premier pass rushers in the NFL, Williams had 14 sacks a year ago, and is decent against the run recording 59 tackles a season ago as well. While Williams continues to develop I expect him to become a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
#16 Tommie Harris, DT, Chicago Bears
Harris is the best pass rushing DT in the NFL. One of the most athletic players in the NFL he had 8 sacks a season ago, all the while doing a good job against the run. Harris may not be as good as Albert Haynseworth, their are no charecter issues to speak off.
#17 Jason Peters, T, Buffalo Bills
Peters is right there with Joe Thomas as the best young tackle in the NFL. Peters was not drafted, yet has gone on to become a star in this league. As a former TE, he has great speed and athleticism, and the size and strength that makes him one of the best in the business. at tackle. A pro bowler a season ago expect many more to come
#18 Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints
When the third best QB in the NFL comes up the common responses are Big Ben, Carson Palmer, and Tony Romo. To take a page from Lee Corso, not so fast my friend. Brees has now had 2 straight 4,000+ yard seasons, and more importantly Brees is a better all around QB. He resurrected a franchise that was in the dumps and took them to the playoffs. Simply he is a high character guy, who knows how to move the ball.
#19 Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Yep another controversial move putting Larry Fitzgerald ahead of T.O. Fitz had 100 catches and 1409 yards as well as 10 TD's. One huge difference he has Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner throwing to him not Tony Romo. Though many consider AnQuan Bolden a better receiver I think not. Fitz has had over 100 catches the 2 years he was healthy and has 2 pro bowl appearances.
#20 Shawn Andrews, G, Philadelphia Eagles
Andrews is the Future of the guard position in the NFL. He came into the league as a Tackle, so he obviously has the size and strength to play tackle, but what has allowed him to become a star is his athletic skills and impressive speed as a blocker. In fact this may be higher than most people think, but I feel he is definitely worth this slot.
#21 Kerry Rhodes, SS, New York Jets
Again, surprise Kerry Rhodes is the best safety in football. Rhodes is a complete sfaety, he is a big hitter and caused 2 fumbles this year, while he plays well up closer to the line, and had 68 tackles this past season, and he can cover very well recording 5 picks a season ago. Fact is Rhodes can do it all.
#22 Albert Haynesworth, DT, Tennessee Titans
Hayensworth is the most complete DT in the NFL, I just feel that the character issues and problems keep him from succeeding at his full level. A year ago he had 40 tackles and 6 sacks, but he is not only a good pass rusher especially for a DT, but he is one of the best run stoppers in the NFL, and makes everyone around him much, much better.
#23 Ed Reed, SS, Baltimore Ravens
Ed Reed, was once the best defensive player in the NFL. I feel he has tailed off a bit, but he is still an amazing safety. Reed is a ball hawk and flies all over the field, in fact he had 7 picks this past season. He is surprisingly a big hitter, and though he only had 39 tackles a pretty solid player against the run. If he can step up more in coverage and make big tackles, he may become a top 10 player in the NFL.
#24 Jeff Saturday, C, Indianapolis Colts
Saturday is the premier center in the NFL, bar none. A great, and I mean great pass blocker he rarely ever makes mistakes on the line and protects Peyton Manning, like few others can. Saturday also does a great job of communicating to other players on the field, which is key in the Colts ever changing plays at the line. His ability to orchestrate everything on the line makes him a top 25 player in the NFL.
#25 Terrell Owens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
T.O. is a handful of the field, but on the field he is one of the best WR's in the game. A playmaker who had over 1,300 yards a season ago, and 15 TD's. One of the best athlete's in the game, he does have a tendency to drop passes, but he can make all kinds of plays especially in the redzone.
Players Who just missed
Kris Dielman, Left Guard, San Diego Chargers
Carson Palmer, QuarterBack, Cincinnati Bengals
Adrian Wilson, Strong Safety, Arizona Cardinals
Chris Samuels, Left Tackle, Washington Redskins
Lofa Tatupu, Middle Linebacker, Seattle Seahawks

Andre Johnson, Wide Receiver, Houston Texans
Steven Jackson, Running Back, ST. Louis Rams
Haloti Ngata, 3-4 Defensive End, Baltimore Ravens
Jammal Brown, Left Tackle, New Orleans Saints
Tony Romo, QuarterBack, Dallas Cowboys

Brian Urlacher, Inside Linebacker, Chicago Bears

Good blog. Is it just me, or is this blog pointless right now that the NFL season hasn't started? .....I think it's just me, I'm not in the mood for NFL.

I like your pick of Brees as the 3rd best QB. But of course, I'm a Saints fan. He's in a small market and does play in the NFC South so he doesn't get the exposure that others do. Still, he puts up the numbers and creates more with less. Look for the Saints to win the South and make the playoffs this year. If Duece is healthy, mix in some Reggie on short pass and change of pace plays and they will be very effective. The defense, which sucked! last year has been revamped and will be a great improvement. Ced Ellis and Gay at CB, Vilma at Linebacker................The Saints are coming!
