Baron Davis extremely shocked the Warriors when he opted out of his contract to become a free agent. Now they must be REALLY surprised. Davis decided to sign a deal with Los Angeles, his hometown. The Clippers will give Baron Davis what he wants, a contract which he will receive a five-year deal worth an estimated $65 million.
Baron Davis will most likely play alongside Elton Brand, who also decided to opt out. Brand can also join the team if the organization decides to dump Corey Maggette, which is highly likely. Corey Maggette also decided to opt out of his contract.
Last season for the Golden State Warriors, Baron Davis averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds.

Woah, but this was a bad choice. He obviously is just playing for the money, not for the chance to win a championship.

"Potential Trade: Lakers trade Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, and a second round pick next season to Seattle for Chris Wilcox, Johan Petro, Donyell Marshall (expiring contract), and 2 future 1st round picks (1 in 2009 and 1 in 2010). "
A team can NOT trade first round picks in back to back years.

Brand's not coming back. I highly doubt that.

I don't think Brand is coming back for less money. The only way he is coming back is for more money.
Baron Davis coming to the Clippers is going to greatly help them, but with Brand not there, that is going to hurt them.
I see them being about .500, but likely below it.

Chris Mullin just single handedly put the warriors back in last place for the next 13 years. You know Davis would've stayed for 5 years at 65 milliion. But instead Mullin insultes Davis by offering twice that to Arenas when everybody in basketball land knows he's not ever going to leave the wiz. And now we have nothing to show for it. Good luck in L.A. Baron I don't blame you one bit. Thanks Isiah I mean Mullin.

Thanks for the updates as always, Denis. I don't think Davis will be on a front-running team in the West unless he gets traded to the Spurs or Suns or Lakers or Hornets, which is highly unlikely. He might as well just go for the money....
