Happy Independence Day, Fannation.
Welcome to the sixth installment of NMI's Meet the Members blog. As a group, NMI wants to help FN gain independence from idiocy, making things as enjoyable and as fair as possible for everybone. By now, we hope you've seen at least some of our previous interviews.
You may click the following links for sessions with rstowe, porkins, NCshvDavid, Goodell, and T-fo.

Today we're talking with another esteemed member...Duquesne!
What made you want to join NMI?
-Back when NMI was started, Fannation was running wild with a lot of moronic TDs and shabby voting. I wanted to be considered one of the "non-idiots" and I took the invite as an honor.
What do you like best about FN?
-The timekilling it provides in school and work as well as the ability to talk sports 24/7
What do you like least about FN?
-People taking things too seriously on here...It's just a fan site and to the best of my knowledge, there isn't a trophy being handed out.
Any members of Fannation help get you where you are today?
-Plenty...and I don't want to upset anyone, but I'll name a couple...
NCDavid - helped me when I was a newbie and picked me on his TD team (which never materialized) but he gave me a lot of confidence on the site
Stowe - helped keep me cool when a few members ticked me off and is one of the reasons I'm still on the site
Ram - helped humble me a couple times on TDs just when I started getting cocky
To the rest of my friends on here...you all played a part in getting me to where I'm at, but there are just too many to name.
What drew you to join FanNation?
-A sports illustrated email...I went on and lost my first 2 TDs but loved the concept of the site.
What do you (plan to) do for a living?
-Hopefully being a patent attorney, but at least graduating law school and seeing where it takes me

What are your goals in life?
-well since I never made the bigs...I guess being happy and having a huge house with some sick TVs to watch sports 24/7 (hitting the lottery would help)
If you could go to one sporting event before you die, what would that be and why?
-A Pirates World Series game (I'll live forever - so I guess a Steelers Super Bowl) - I'm a huge Pittsburgh fan and I don't think either of those could be topped for me.
When did you first become a sports fan and what drew you in?
-As far back as I can remember I watched the Pens, Steelers, and Pirates with my dad
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
Going back to high-school , it would have to be History because the greatest teachers I had taught the classes and actually made it fun. Plus there isn't any predictability: it already happened.
Who is your greatest sports idol?
-Mario Lemieux. I got signed pictures and jerseys all throughout my room. I loved watching him tear up the competition when I was younger
Who is your greatest non-sports idol?
-Probably my parents...they kept pushing for me to put education first and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them (literally and figuratively)
What was the first live sporting event you attended?
-I don't remember, but probably a Bucco's game at Three Rivers Stadium in the late 80's![]()
What is your fondest sports memory?
-Personal: Setting all the goalkeeping records at my high school for both career and single year and leading my team to the school's first and only section championship with a 14-2-1 record my senior year
What do you do in your free time away from FanNation?
-In the little free time I have, it's usually spent with my girlfriend watching movies and relaxing.
What are your favorite teams and why?
-Steelers, Pens, Buccos - all Pittsburgh teams. Penn State - My undergrad school. I also like the red sox which started after my hate for the Yanks (sorry Stowe)

What are your favorite aspects of/ acitivites on FN?
-I like TDing. I also love writing the Sunday night QB roundup of the week during football season. The best time-killer though is the Day Walkers chatroom group
What have you've learned since joining FN?
-That it's just for fun, that records mean nothing, and that I'm not always right.
What would you like people to know about NMI?
We are on here for you, and we aren't anything bad that some people think. If there is an unfair TD voting that is occurring, let us know, and if you are right, we will fix it.
What has FN taught you?
-That even Cleveland fans are proud of their teams and that some people take this site way too seriously.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
-Probably to be more patient and not as angry. I have a short temper and I've spouted off a couple times on here and in real life...that's my biggest flaw.
What is your biggest regret?
-That I didn't stick with baseball in high school for all 3 years. I guess I'm pretty lucky if that's my biggest regret.
If you could have done one thing differently in your time on FanNation, what would it be?
Wrote more blogs and spent more time blogging. I really enjoy it, the problem is I never can think of enough topics.
Favorite food, band, movie?
Food: Big juicy steak with garlic pasta.
Band: It switches a lot, right now it's Tom Petty.
Movie: A Few Good Men (I know, typical lawyer)

What advice would you give to a new FN user?
-Ask a lot of questions, look at TDs done by the vets and don't act like you know everything, and have fun.
Thanks, Duq. Good luck suing the world.
Untill next time...
