Elton Brand: Still a possibility? | jsams's Blog

Man, oh man. My advice to all people who don't enjoy feeling miserable all day and dozing off during everyday activities like eating, is NOT to go to the strip till three in the morning on a work night. I'm just throwing that out there. From a basketball standpoint it's been a real slow day. The only remotely interesting Sixer news is the story that we will re-establish ourselves in the Elton Brand sweepstakes.

Elton, who's buddy Baron Davis just reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers, seemed like a lock to re-sign after the deal. Interestingly enough, Baron's old team, the Warriors have offered Elton a contract worth roughly 20 million dollars more than anything the Clips could offer. That, along with the reports about the Sixers planning to make a move makes this Elton Brand situation very interesting. 24 hours have passed since the Davis signing and Elton still hasn't re-signed with the Clips. I guess he didn't expect 20 extra mill to be thrown his way. All bets are off on where he'll go now, but I've personally talked myself into him and the Sixers not being a good fit. Now I truly believe Josh Smith is so much better for this team. I'm sure I'd be happy if we found a way to acquire EB, especially since I've been pushing for him for the past few months, but I would probably have to spend an entire day watching Elton Brand highlights and Josh Smith bloopers in order to re-sway my opinion. It's all interesting nonetheless.

Check back for more updates and hopefully they'll be good news. I'll also throw in a couple feel-good posts from the season that was, just to prepare for a possible free agency let down. Hope everybody has a safe 4th. I am now going to eat some ice cream and fall asleep on my "SuperSac" for 30 straight hours. Goodnight.
