Since alleviating themselves of team cancer Ray Emery, it's no secret the Ottawa Senators are looking to upgrade their goaltending. Martin Gerber was a Swiss League Superstar. Unfortunately, he has yet to achieve that status in the NHL. With the talented core they possess, a top notch goaltender could bring Canada's Capital an elusive Stanley Cup. They should turn their attention to the native of Sverdlovsk, Russia.
Following the ludicrious signing of Cristobal Huet, it would appear Nikolai Khabibulin's days in the Windy City are over. Though the Russian goaltender didn't excell with the Blackhawks, it's more a testiment to the team rather than the individual. He is a Stanley Cup winner who's had some of his most memorable moments in the playoffs. In '96, Khabibulin singlehandedly kept the Jets alive in their series with the Red Wings. With all due respect to Brad Richards who was awarded the Conn Symthe Trophy, The Bulin Wall was the true MVP. The Lightning played a high-risk, wide-open style, often leaving Nikolai out to dry. Make no mistake. Nikolai Khabibulin is the primary reason why classy Jerome Iginla doesn't have a championship ring on his finger.
Senators GM Bryan Murray may not be thrilled at the thought of picking up the 6.5 million remaining on his contract. But if he is wise, he'll pull the trigger on a deal the lands The Bulin Wall. His razor-sharp reflexes will allow the Ottawa Senators to become a sleeper canadiate to win the Stanley Cup.

Yes. It was designed to grab your attention and keep it!

Agree with you the council does.

A good addition to the Senators, the Bhulin Wall would be.

Nice, a defenseman would also be.

Thank you.

The Bulin wall days are far behind him now. I would take Gerber over him and that outrageous contract any day of the week

It's worth the gamble. Osgood won the Stanley Cup back in '98 and then won it this year. If you win it once, you can win it again.

I think the Senators showed they need more than just Khabibulin to compete in the playoffs. Whether he becomes a Sen or not the team is still not going to be a big factor in the playoffs.

You never know. Fluke teams have won it before. The Carolina Hurricanes & Tampa Bay Lightning weren't projected to win those years. But they surprised and did.

First of all, wasnt it Emery two years ago that brought the Senators to the Stanley Cup Finals against Ahaheim? I wouldnt call that cancer. Secondly, there is nothing ludacris about Chicago signing Huet, in fact I think it was a really smart move on their part! And third, the Senators just aquired Alex Auld who in my opinion played fantastic for the Bruins this past season. If Ottawa managers have more brains that Bruins management, Auld will start alot of games this year for the Sens and will quickly move into the spotlight and get the recognition he finally deserves! Boston was a fool to not give a better chance!

The Blackhawks gave Huet way too much money. He makes more than Martin Brodeur! That's insane. Or as TSN's Pierre McGuire called it "demented". I think my adjective is less abrasive. Don't you? Secondly. I'm not the only one who thought Emery was a team cancer. Real hockey writers also made that conclusion. Thirdly, I agree on Alex Auld. He played well in Beantown and deserves a bona fide starter role. (Although I can't forget how poorly he played in the World Championships 3 years ago. Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes & Sidney Crosby were a scoring machine. Only lousy goaltending prevented that exicting squad from medaling. Thank you for commenting. Whether you agree or disagree.
