Yesterday, I saw the greatest match of all time played out by the two biggest rivals of all time. Federer and Nadal are almost exact opposites, yet are eternally connected together, from now on, in tennis history. Think about the differences.

Nadal, the fiery young man, Federer, the subtle veteran. Lefty and Righty. Nadal with the loud grunts during each hit, Federer is silent death. Nadal bites his trophies, Federer adds it to the others. Federer with steely determination, Nadal with humble grace. One with a backhand that could kill Bjorn Borg(Nadal), the other with a lightning fast forehand capable of making the opponent's body become an unwilling contortionist. Federer is king of grass, while Nadal is the ruler of clay. Nadal wins the French, Federer wins(except yesterday) Wimbledon.

One is #1, and the other is #2. Yesterday noon through evening, I sat and watched the entire Wimbledon Finals match, you know why? History was made. These two opposites clashed to result in the Yin and Yang of tennis. The greatest match EVER was played out. The longest Wimbledon Finals in history, almost an entire 6 hour event.

These arch-rivals had met 5 times before, but none like this. Though Nadal won, the two are neck and neck for 1st, with much between them and 3rd. I look forward to the 7th meeting between Nadal and Federer, because hopefully these two opposites will meet and make another match to remember.

Good blog. It was a good match. When Nadal went up two sets, I thought Roger was done. To come back from that and almost win was an amazing feat. Roger might have been down on himself after the match but he should be commended for not giving up and giving Nadal everything he had.

Nice blog. The tiebreaker on the 4th set was amazing to watch. The over the back shot by Nadal was spectacular! Federer seemed to make quite a few unforced errors after changing his racquet. Everytime he brought Nadal close to the net, he lost the point. But it was a great match with much excitement. Nadal was classy in his acceptance of the trophy as well.

It was a beautiful match. If only there was an American star up at that level.

Djokovic is going to put some heat on the rivalry though.

I didn't see the match but I did see the pictures online and in the paper. Great rivalry between these two. I thought maybe Nadal bit the trophy to make sure it wasn't made out of lead and painted gold.

The two greatest rivals of all time? That's stretching it a little bit far in my opinion. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic tennis match between two great players.

It was a fantastic match.
But I still think McEnroe-Borg was the best match of all-time. McEnroe's temper always made tennis more exciting back in the day.
