As a fan, I would prefer that the Red Sox not go for Tex. They need to get healthy on offense, sure. But runs aren't the problem. They need pitching, especially in the pen.

Getting a 35-40 HR guy is great, but the associated Ks, etc. aren't.

Spend money on what you NEED.

Actually of late hitting is the problem for the Sox --- With ortiz out, Tek, Manny, and Elsbury all in slumps, they need some firepower. And Papi is not an option to play 1B or anywhere else.
