Kobe Bryant recently reiterated his desire to be traded from the Los Angeles Lakers.  Kobe wants to go to a contender, but the Lakers are asking for young talent that teams (like the Bulls) are too hesitant to give up.  I personally feel that the perfect trade for not only Kobe, but also the Lakers, would be to the Charlotte Bobcats.  This is how the trade would go down:  The Lakers would send Kobe and their second round pick to Charlotte for Sean May, Raymond Felton, Gerald Wallace, Adam Morrison, and the Bobcats first round 2007 Draft pick.

This is why the trade would work.  Los Angeles gets the young talent they desire in May, Felton, Morrison and whoever they select with that top ten pick from Charlotte.  They know build around these guys, Andrew Bynum,  and who they select with their own #1 pick.  Kobe gets to go to a contender, right?  Is Charlotte, with Kobe and Okafor, not now instant contenders in the NBA's JV league (Eastern Conference)?  They absolutely are. Now Everyone's happy.  LA has young talent, Kobe's on a contender, and the Bobcats have a face to their franchise that they've desperately needed since joining the league.

You must be from Charlotte. Keep dreaming

Oh, my God. Hey Shirley, do you re-hee-hee-hee-heeally think Kobe Bryant is going to go to an expansion team in a small market?!

June 18, 2007  01:16 AM ET

I think this guy or gal is serious. Unfortunately for you my friend, I don't think its going to happen. I still think that the Bulls are the only viable team that have enough pieces that might entice Buss and the Lakers to pull the trigger on a trade.

What are you smoking. Kobe can veto any trade he doesn't like. Do you really think that Kobe is going to WANT to go to Charlotte?? No way. I agree with RichQ

I don't think Kobe will be traded, since he really does not have much choice. The Lakers could improve their team dramatically with the following moves:

First, for those of you that have forgotten, Walton, Parker, Makie, Williams, Mihm, and Turiaf are all free agents, so there is team space.

Now: Trade Odom + Bynum + #19 + filler player for KG. If not,
Trade Odom + Brown + #19 + filler player for JO. Indiana wants salary cap relief, and Brown has 1 year left (+ player become all-stars in their contract year)

Next: Use the mid-level exception, long with a few million more and go after Billups with an increasing sliding scale contract.
Depending on if we have Brown or Bynum: Trade Brown to Phoenix for Bell + J-Rose. Phoenix gets the salary cap relief (9 million) without having to give up Marion.
Or, the Lakers could offer Brown for Artest (again the + for Sac is cap relief =9 million).

Out of our free agents, sign Mihm and Turiaf. Maybe Walton, if not too expensive. Team would be:

PG: Billups, Farmar, and J-Rose
SG: Kobe, Bell, Sasha
SF: Artest, Walton, Evans
PF: KG or JO, Turiaf, Vlad
C: Bynum or Mihm

Remember, most teams in the league don't have a true center; just a glorified power forward (ex. Suns, Spurs, Pistons, Magic, etc). The Lakers would not have to necessarily worry about Bynum in that case.

Some other FA's worth taking a look at are:
P. J. Brown, Sasha Pavlovich, Austin Croshere, Jerry Stackhouse, Matt Barnes, Jason Hart, Mo Williams, Mikki Moore, Melvin Ely, Jacque Vauhn, Morris Peterson.

Don't give up Kobe and Laker fans - it can be done this summer!!!

He is just seeking being in the public..the draft is coming so Korbe has to get into the news.

Hey guys, I noticed that Phil Jackson has not said anything about the issue's that they are having. This may just be a ploy to make the GM and the Owner to get them to do something FAST! I think it is a smart move because the GM is just sitting on his arse and not doing anything. This is one way to get him up on his feet along with the owners. Goo Lakers!!!
