Oh come on,you can't say you've heard the name Sexson and not thought of it.
Today the Mariners released the 33 year old Sexson from his 4 year 50 million dollar contract.He was due 15,500,000 this year.Since his great first year in Seattle when he hit 39 HR's,and had 121 RBI's,as well as a .263 average(good for him),he has failed to live up to the standards fans have bestown upon him.
He had been playing poorly for the Mariners so far this year with a .218 average,11 HR's,and 30 RBI's,just not good enough.Surely this 6'8 240 lb powerful behemoth with end up with someone because of his power.He's already played for the Indians.Brewers,D'Backs,and Seattle,and will likely find himslef somewhere else soon.
Things have deteriorated this season for the M's.Their signing of Adrian Beltre has shown to be a disaster(can't say I didn't see that coming)and Bedard has not performed up to standard.Their manager as of the start of the year,John McLaren,has been fired,as was the GM,Bill Bavasi.They were supposedly going to contend for the Wildcard,but that's pretty much gone.As of now they are 36-56 and 18.5 games back in the AL West.
It should be quite interesting to see who picks up this giant.
