In downtown Atlanta, Georgia State University decided to create a football team to play in I-AA(or whatever it is now) starting in 2010. The Panthers quickly hired former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Reeves to help lead in the study of football and to help with fundraising for the sport. They also found out that they would be playing their home games in the Georgia Dome. It seemed like they had everything that they need so far, except for one thing: a coach.
That all changed on June 12th, 2008 when they hired a coach. He is a former college and NFL player who coached the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, among many other teams. Do you want to take a guess at who the mystery coach is? No, it's not Bobby Ross. It's Bill Curry, coming back to coach for the first time since Kentucky fired him in 1996. It has been noted that because of his absence from coaching, most of his recruits for Georgia State will only know him for his TV appearances calling games. I'm glad that the Panthers hired Curry, because, among many other reasons, I met him when I was little.
My dad always tells me this story whenever Curry is on or mentioned on TV. My dad and I were going through the local Ingles not far from where I lived and my dad said he got into checkout when he noticed the man in front of him looked oddly familiar. My dad asked him if he was Bill Curry and he said yes. They talked about football, and I think this actually happended when Curry was fired from Kentucky, because I remember my dad saying that Curry said that he was going to get out of coaching for a while. Then my dad said something about me, and Coach Curry said that I looked like an All-American. I wonder if Coach Curry realized that when he said he was getting out of coaching for a while that he would be out for twelve years. Or if that little "All-American" would grow up with a love for football and sports-writing and would write a blog about him.

Good blog for real. I heard about the Curry hiring but I do know him best from his analyst days and I like him. He's a good guy for a good opportunity.

Georgia St is a division 1 baseball team right? Maybe they will do well. They are in a good area to recruit and the State of Georgia is starting to put out much more talent then UGA and GT can take. I also heard they pride themselves on there dorms being nicer then Tech's
