I'm a Kansas City Royals fan, true and blue.  The 2008 season has been a roller-coaster ride to say the least.  Entering into the 2008 season, I had visions of a .500 ballclub.  I had visions of a team that would wreck havoc on the Tigers and Indians as those two teams battled it out for the division title.  But sitting here now on July 11, just a few days away from the Midsummer Classic, my team is 11 games under .500.  What's more surprising is the Royals are 13 games back from the division leading WHITE SOX, whom the TWINS trail by only 1.5 games.  The Tigers, just about everyone's pick to finish atop the division, are 7 games back and the Indians are dead last.  I feel for the Indians, I really do, but injuries and the trade of CC Sabathia have finished their season.  The Tigers still have a shot at the division title, but it won't be easy as they need to fix their pitching mess.  The Royals, well, they just need to focus on being more consistent and attempting to finish at .500 this year.  We need the pitching to be there at the same time as the hitting, and vice versa.  Producing hits haven't been a problem as of late, its punching them in that has been an issue; somebody needs to claim the title as hero for this team and hit in the clutch when runners are on.  Don't get me wrong, I understand the phrase "patience is a virtue," and patience is what we need for development of these young players.  I just hope that there will be a hunger within these players to improve in the second half and not accept mediocrity.  Whatever success that they can muster up for the remainder of the year will only transfer over to the next and continue from there.
