I don't know about you, but the Arena Football League has caught my attention the past two seasons. I tend to agree with those who say that it helps provide some kind of satisfaction while we wait for the NFL season each year. Sure we have NFL training camp battles and star layers coming out of retirement and eanted their release from the team that they spent most of the life with, but here's no real football action - unless, of course, you loo to the AFL. The rules of the AFL game are a little different, but the excitement is real, and if you like a high-scoring 73-70 type of game then the AFL is right for you.
Today we have two Cinderella stories in th AFL Conference Championship. First is Cleveland, the home of the Gladiators and Team President Bernie Kosar. A season ago the Gladiators ere in Las Vegas and missed the playoffs going 2-14. This year they went into the playoffs at 9-7 as the #4 seed in the AFL's National Conference and they are now just one win away from Arena Bowl XXII. Ovr in the American Conference, the Grand Rapids Rampage were not supposed to be in their conference championship game either. The Rampage came into the 2008 AFL Playoffs as the lowest-seeded (#6 seed) team in the American Conference and have proceeded to beat the #3 seed Arizona and the #1 seed Chicago, both on the road.
Pro Football Fans has released their preview of the 2008 AFL Conference Champipnship games and made their picks for the Arena Bowl in two weeks in New Orleans. Here's a look at the schedule of today's games:
