Brett Favre NFL Report 7-11-08 by WWW.Jamestowncalif.com Sports

Brett Favre asks the Green Bay Packers team management  for his release brings Big News to the NFL for 2008.  Brett Favre retires then wants to come back for another season,  so what do you do?  The Green Bay Management and Brett Favre have yet  to reach an agreement on his return for next season after his retirement announcement.  Brett Favre has had a very strong and prestigious career in the NFL.  Favre is a Super Bowl quarterback and it has been along time since he was in the Super Bowl being on both ends of the outcome in the Big Game.  Always as a Green Bay Packer, top QB, and most of all team leader.  Two Years ago, the Sports critics argued that Favre was not as effective in the NFL as he once was adding that his age is a concern.  People were writing him and his team off.  In 2007, the Green Bay Packers were oh so close to reaching the Super Bowl as the Giants Win the Super Bowl after first playing Green Bay at Green Bay in one of the Most Exciting Football Games of all time.  It’s gotta hurt Brett Favre after the NFC Conference Game throwing that interception in Overtime perhaps that is a reason for him wanting to come back being that He and the Packers had a very good football season.  In 2007, the Green Bay Packers were one of the Top Teams in the NFL all season, and Favre played better than expected, and at times looked really good.  I was very impressed with the Packers last season and the hustle of Brett Favre playing against some of the younger guys in the NFL.  At times, Favre at QB just schools teams, and it is fun to watch.

Brett Favre first asks the Packers if he can return after the retirement announcement.  Expecting perhaps that he would automatically be a Packer, now the News Friday has changed from he possibly playing for another team.  The announcement on ESPN Sportscenter referred Favre as asking the Packers for his release.

What does that mean, and where does that leave Brett Favre whom has only played for one team?  There are many options and teams that would welcome him to come play, and a lot to do with his decision will be the financials that teams offer.  I would like Brett Favre to come back for another season and I don’t understand why the Packers have yet to bring him back to the team  strategy for next season.  Teams are already practicing and the Giants are the Defending Super Bowl Champions, and the Green Bay Packers being runner ups with Favre, the team reached that plateau.  Favre retired, and players have retired and come back to the game in other leagues.

Part 2

That Brings us to another question, which teams want to have Brett Favre on there teams, and which team does Brett Favre wants to play for?  Does he want to play in the NFC or the AFC?  I think there are a lot of teams that can have Favre come play for them, but that ultimately depends on Favre, and or if the Packers elect to have Favre play another season.

The Raiders, would Favre want to play for the Raiders?  Would anybody want to play for the Raiders that’s the question?  Oakland is a good place to consider if the Raiders management would take a chance on bringing in Favre.  I would. The Raiders need a Quarterback, and what better player can provide that skill at that position.  You never know, Favre could turn around that team with just his presence on the field being the leader that he is.  The Bay Area is a nice place to live, and playing with the worst team in the NFL and if he has the ability to turn around the worst team.  The last two seasons have been bad for Oakland,  worse that puetred as some broadcasters have mentioned.  The Raiders need a miracle, and Favre could be that player that changes the image for the team, and get the team back to winning where he will play AFC teams more.  I would like to see Favre with the silver and black, and want a raise if that happens, but Favre has teams to consider to define his career.  Do you stay NFC to challenge the Giants, or do you go AFC to challenge the Patroits and Colts, and for Oakland the Chargers, Broncos, and Chiefs.

Favre knows how to win the division games.  There are other teams that he can play for or the sports broadcasters have mentioned teams that he can play for such as the Ravens.  I don’t know, and it is a tough decision for Favre playing his entire career loyally to Green Bay bringing all the Greatness with it then to play for another franchise.

I think he wants another crack at the Giants.  Not the only team.  The 2007 season ranks as one of the most interesting seasons, and having Favre play strong was important. Right now Brett Favre is the most interesting man.

Other teams he can play for, or cities that need a Quarterback:  the Eagles need a QB, and that would be a great opportunity to play against all the NFC East teams, a very competitive division.  Or do you stay local and the division you’re familiar with such as also mentioned play for the Vikings.  That would keep his play set the same.  That all relies on Favre and the team that elects to chance it.  How strong is he is the question and can he remain being effective another season?  What if he goes to the worst team, and wins the Super Bowl with another team?  There are a lot of questions, but the bottom line is he wants to play another season, and take the licks as QB as it is the mind of the offense.  The Packers did well for Favre last season on acquiring wide outs, and putting a good defense on the field.  The Packers were just one game away from getting to the Super Bowl, but would they have been able to “mustard” a win against New England?  So regardless of why Favre retired last season, now he wants to come back. It is good for the league and for the game, and playing with a team like the Raiders, he could also help Russell develope in the league.  There are a lot of teams that need a QB.  The Steelers don’t.  So you have to look for a team that has the schedule that he wants which will determine where he plays.  Brett Favre announced Friday for the Packers to release him, and this is big news for the NFL.  Does Brett Favre have another season in him?  He definetly has guts.  There are a lot of games he played through tough conditions, sometimes injured, and he would come through.  That Is how I remember Brett Favre that he has guts.  I like the way he takes it to other teams.  Some of his weakeness the last few seasons is that he does throw interceptions in big games such as in NFC Title game against the Giants, and other games like against the Eagles in the NFC Title game a few years ago.  Brett Favre has many opportunities in this business regardless of what team he wants to pick.  To add, which ever team that does elect to bring Favre in, team merchandise will go up considerably.  Teams that already are big sellers of NFL gear can benefit, and some teams need to consider changing their image, and where the team is going at this present time.  There are some bad teams out there, and Favre doesn’t want to go to a team that is not going to play hard with him.  But I think his experience can only be a plus for the team that he plays for.  I’d like to see him play for the Raiders, but that is a long shot.  What does Brett Favre want to do after his comeback, and which team will be a good fit for both he and the team determines everything.  Brett Favre has nothing to prove in this league.  But I think that he does have a soar feeling after the NFC Title Game at Green Bay last season, and the fact that he knows he can play in this league is the reason Favre announced that he is coming back from retirement in the NFL.  Good Luck to Brett Favre on where he decides to play.
