After posting their eight staight win against COL the Mets have climbed to a 1/2 behind rivals PHI. Tell me a month ago that the Mets would win eight straight i would look at you and tell you to get help immediatley but now i am willing to admit this is one hell of a run. It feels like 05 again but jst a little different.

Im willing to go out there and saymuch of this turn around has to do with Jerry Mauel. He has really taken the team and inplied his own philosophy which has been tremendus for the Mets. Willie Randolph was to much of a layed back guy. He would sit in his office talking to reports calm and cool when his team just lost its 5 straight. Thats not a manager. Jerry Manuel on the other hand is. He comes into the clubhouse with a we're gonna win today attitude something i think the Mets were lacking. Hes been the manager for about 2 weeks. Hes been ejected twice. Willie would never get ejected. He would argue the call till he knew he was about to get tossed. WHY do that please tell me. How will you get the respect you deserve from your players when you go go go and when your about to get tossed you back off. Keep goin yell scream show your players your behind them dont wuss out.

i also must say there aare players that shoudl be mentioned in this blog. First Jose Reyes. Hes batting .300 has 10 HRS and is starting to look like is old self. Also Carlos Delgado has been on fire. Yes hes hitting .245 but he has 16 hrs nd is still an opposing threat to the other team. Two bench player who should be mentiond. Fernando Tatis nd Damion Easley. Both come off the bench fill in the postion that is needed ad provides the energy needed to get eveyone going.

Now pitching. Perez and Pelfery are the two pitchers that should get some love too. Perez has pitched phenominal in his last 3 outtings. Pelfrey is finally showing why the Mets were so reluctant to trade him a hundred times last yr. Now the bullpen. Everyone needs to be mentioned here. EVEN Aaron Heilmen. The bullpen ha been coming in and doing their job to a T. Smith Faliciano Sanchez Scott Wagner and Muniez all have takin to their roles and know when they are needed. The whole pitching staff has been amazin. only allowin 3or less hits in their past 4 games. This is what is needed.

Solid pitching solid hitting nd the Mets can become the team that theyre supposed to be. First in the divison and a threat to every team they face.

Some things the Mets might want to do is get some help in the outfield. Jason Bay Xavier Nady all have been rumored but why not look to CIN and talk about gettin Griffey Jr. Give a shout to the D-Backs and talk about Upton or Salazar. The Mets also should maybe look for a replacement 2b men. Jeff Kent of the Dodgers is avaiable and would be a soild fit for them. Maybe even look at reaquiring Jeff Keppingjer from CIN. Also maybe another relief pitcher or even a starter. Pedro got hurt again. How serious who knows but why not look to get someone decent. They were big on Blanton last yr nd hes been down all season so they could pick him up cheaply if they wanted.

All and all the Mets are doing what we all knew they were capable of doing. Lets just hope his last a while.
