On a middle of July summer day you're sitting there wondering what to do. What should I do? I'm bored. The economy stinks. The news is all bad. School sucks. It's boring. I hate my life. It's unfair. My friends have all the nice things. All my parents do is fight. The world's coming to an end. What's the use?
Seeing all these famous sports figures making the big money. Watching all the hot chicks (and dudes) on t.v. having a good time while I watch. I want mine too. It's so far away. No one makes it from my town. I'm "just a."
Heard all that before. And quite frankly, it's a cop out. An excuse for mediocrity. "What did you expect from someone like me, with my background," you'll use. And you'll hear, "it's o.k., you did the best you could. Considering where you came from." And if you're not careful, very careful, you'll by into it. That's too bad.
"I bargained for life for a penny and that's all life would pay." It's been said, and I've found out it's true.
What are you bargaining with life for? Just to get through. "But my job sucks." "My wife's a nag." "My husband's an ****." "My kids are driving me nuts." "My parents don't understand what I'm going through." "Why even try?"
And who the heck am I (me) to say these things to you. What gives me the right to get in your collective faces and challenge you? Go ahead and ask those questions. Spend your time lambasting me for daring to do so. All the while the world moves on unaware (and uncaring) of your progress (or regression). The choice is yours.
"The sooner you realize that the world isn't paying as much attention to you (and your life) as you think it is, the better off you'll be." What a liberating thought. For those who hear.
Finally, you might even question my motivations. What if I told you that the best way to get what you want out of life is to help others do the same, the more success you'll realize. What if I told you that? And what if that was true?
What'll you do today? What will I do? You just read my part. What's yours?
