I'm now going to write a blog each Monday night after "Raw" to see what kind of progress WWE makes in dealing with the Vince McMahon death angle. Chicagogr81 will also be doing a similar type of thing. He thought it would be a great idea to do this since we got so much feedback from our blogs last week. And I must give a big thank you to you guys for that. I can't believe I have over 800 reads on my blog from last week, and I'm stunned it's currently #10 in the Top 10 Most Viewed category. Thank you guys so much for that. I hope you guys continue to read and comment on my blogs.
Anyway, onto tonight's "Raw."
So obviously tonight's episode of "Raw" was filtered with tons of stuff on the "presumed" death of the company chairman, Mr. McMahon. The night began with testimonials from witnesses that saw the explosion and from a kayfabe federal investigator.
The federal investigator, Daniel Beck, was in the building tonight and interviewed many of the potential "suspects" for the car bombing. Suspects included Mr. McMahon's assistant Jonathon Coachman, legend Mick Foley, WWE Champion John Cena, tag team Cryme Tyme, and others. Obviously they want to play up the "Who killed him" angle greatly.
That part didn't both me at all. It's almost interesting to see where they'll go with this. Everyone will have an opinion, and eventually WWE will come up with something that will hopefully shock the entire audience.
The second piece of the show, regarding every match/segment involving McMahon in some fashion, started to get old real quick.
Jim Ross and Jerry "King" Lawler would mention Vince somehow before every match. Jillian Hall song a song for him before her tag team match. King believes Paul London (part of the London and Kendrick tag team) is a main suspect because he was smiling as McMahon left the building last week. Carlito came out as a heel and put over McMahon as a great guy. They interviewed Vince's limo driver. And Mr. Kennedy cut a promo, and a great one at that, but it was still too heavily filtered on McMahon.
That's the problem with this angle. Until the suspect is found, or he comes back on TV after "escaping" the blaze, this will be drawn out waaaaay too much. That's why last week in my blog post I wasn't too happy with the "presumed" death angle. I just hope they get it all over and done with sometime this summer.
The third angle from tonight brought a lot of intrigue to everyone. Who was in the replica white limo tonight? I was thinking it would either be Vince's son Shane or current injured superstar HHH. Shane being in the limo would have been anticlimatic, and HHH in there to be involved with the storyline probably would have been too climatic. Instead we got the boss' daughter Stephanie, which was a small surprise, but nothing special. We knew exactly what she was going to say once she stepped in the ring. She's going to get vengeance on whoever "killed" her father. Yawn.
Oh well. Hopefully this angle progresses greatly through the next few weeks. And hopefully (really, hopefully) the angle gets solved rather quickly.
Next week's three hour "Raw" should answer a few more questions, but also leave some dramatics as well. I just hope JR doesn't have that somber attitude again and everyone on the microphone doesn't speak about McMahon non-stop.
What do you guys have to say about what transpired tonight?
