GBOA Recruiting Update: Omari Lawrence

GBOA East player and NY Panther Omari Lawrence has got the Red Storm on his mind.  St. John's and head coach Norm Roberts are delighted to hear that Lawrence has them at No. 1 right now on his college list, considering he has other big programs like UConn, Louisville and Florida taking interest as well.

"I believe great things can happen if I go there," Lawrence stated last Wednesday July 9th.  "We can start winning games, bring back the program and the fans...It would bring back life into college basketball in the city."

The 6'4 Lawrence will continue to visit potential schools, but if he signs with the Red Storm, he would be the first elite New York recruit Roberts has gotten.  Also to interest for Coach Roberts is GBOA players and NY Gaucho teammates Durand Scott and Dan Jennings.

If Coach Roberts is able to sign those three players then GBOA will definitely be in the house on the Red Storm campus in 2009.  St. Johns may also add Lawrence's current Panther coach Oz Cross to its staff after he finishes coaching the summer AAU circuit making the decision even more enticing for Omari.
