Throughout the summer, SIOC will be taking a look at some of the nation's top athletic schools and determining who its all-time best athletes are. Last week we looked at Notre Dame's Top 10, and this week we're looking at Georgia's. Check out our list below (and our gallery) let us know whom we underrated, whom we overrated, and whom we overlooked completely.

10. Hines Ward (football, 1995-1998)
9. Vern Fleming (basketball, 1980-1984)
8. Forrest "Spec" Towns (track and field, 1935-1937)
7. Bob McWhorter (football, 1910-1913)
6. Dominique Wilkins (basketball, 1979-1981)
5. Fran Tarkenton (football, 1957-1960)
4. Gwen Torrence (track and field, 1983-1987)
3. Frank Sinkwich (football, 1941-1943)
2. Teresa Edwards (basketball, 1983-1986)
1. Herschel Walker (football, 1980-1982)

I think Tarkenton should be higher, but other than that, good job. Champ Bailey maybe?

1. Herschel. 2. Champ 3. Hines. All the others belong on the list as well, but these three are the tops.

What position did Frank Sinkwich play? Quarterback I take it, since the caption says that he "led Georgia to a 11-1 record and Rose Bowl victory." From the pic, he looks like he was also the punter. Which brings up a good point, how many guys were their team's punter who also won the Heisman?

Charley Trippi? Bear Bryant called him the best college footballer he had ever seen. He was a halfback, passer, punt returner and safety. Not to mention that he had a 2 year tour in WWII after his sophmore year. Also, Trippi was the Most Outstanding Player in Georgia's only Rose Bowl Game. He is also in the pro and college football halls of fame.

FYI, Sinkwich played half and fullback in a Georgia offense that often called for the passes from anyone in the backfield.

Where is Champ Bailey?

What constitutes belonging to Georgia because you say Fran was born there? Dominique rose to fame in Georgia, but he is originally from Washington, North Carolina. Shouldn't he be ona list for North Carolinians?
