You know the old saying that no player is above his team? I believe it whole-heartedly. It's the concept that fuels championships and storied franchises. You're only as strong as your weakest link. But what if that link is upstairs making the decisions?

Since the whole Brett Favre comeback drama started, accusations have been flying like long-range bombs downfield. And, like dozens of Favre's passes the past couple years, many have been neatly picked off by the other side. Yes, Favre is playing the diva here. It's a role that does not suit him well. He's done it before, but hey, so has Michael Jordan, and while no one wants to remember His Airness in a Wizards jersey at 40, he was still better than most.

This is a no-win situation for the Packers. Ted Thompson, their brilliant GM and architect of a highly successful rebuilding effort through the draft, now finds himself the weakest link in this drama, playing the only real card he has; that he won't release Favre and trying to dictate the terms of his return in one shot. Now, Thompson has opened the door to the same hatred that fellow NFC North GM Matt Millen receives on a daily basis. If Favre somehow loses this staredown with Packer management, expect fans to carry "Fire Ted" signs into Lambeau Field all next season, especially if Aaron Rodgers struggles.

Quite frankly, management is putting too much emphasis on Rodgers at this stage? What has he proven, besides telling fans to get with the program or shut up? Thompson is right that the Packers quarterback of the future is on the roster. He just got the wrong guy. Mark this down. Aaron Rodgers will lose his job to Brian Brohm. Seal it and deliver it. The best move the Packers can make now is to bring Favre back, trade Rodgers for what they can get, and have Favre mentor Brohm for a year. Or, that failing, they can do the right thing and trade or release Favre.

No player is above the team. But in this case, holding the cards he does, (high ability, fan popularity, team popularity) Brett Favre is about as close as it gets.

The media and most people have totally missed red the Green Bay Packer fan base in Wisconsin. I grew up there, have moved away for the last 4 years, and am still in contact with dozens of friends.

They are not happy with what Brett is doing. My buddy who we went to every game for about six years, he continues to go, does not want Brett back and he surely doesn't want Ted Thompson fired. Most major polls are are showing a split on this. Internet polls are flawed because one side will vote multiple times. Honestly, which side do you think is doing it on this pole.

In my home town of 2000 people my father owns a tavern. He told me that the patrons feel Favre was lied to them and they are not happy with him. These are "Simple" people. Your word is everything in a small community.

Brett is throwing the Packers into Ciaos. Ciaos is not good for a franchise. Nothing good can come of this. He is trying to get people who have built a great franchise fired. I am happy to hear that a good portion of Packer fans don't feel this way.

Brett Favre's rally in Green Bay didn't even draw 200 people and the one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin's largest city, had 30 people. Wake up media and friends, Brett doesn't have the upper hand here. Favre has no pull here,

OH yea and Mr. Cook. It's not the Packers move it's yours. Either apply for reinstatement or go away. Enough is enough, no one earns the right to do this to Green Bay Packers. They are ready to move on and have options.

Regardless of what you think its better to have Rodgers and Brohm battle it out than to put all your eggs into one basket. Also I don't want to just throw away Matt Flynn. He could win this QB derby for all we know.

the only down side i see to Aaron Rodgers, is, how fragile he appears to be physically...of course we have been spoiled with the iron man mentallity of Favre. I'm a big Favre fan, and probably always will be. but... with that said, he needs to stay retired.

The Packers can beat Favre.

If Favre decides to come back, the Packers have 2 options. Release him, or put him on their active roster. They WILL put him on their active roster if he comes back to play again. After they put him on their active roster, if the Packers decide to trade him, it will probably be to an AFC team.

The Pack should have a 3 man QB competition. Rodgers vs Brohm vs Flynn. I am sure Rodgers will get the nod but the real concern is Brohm or Flynn.

Rodgers SHOULD get the starting spot because he has been around here for 3 years now and he has been learning off Brett Favre.

Brohm vs Flynn

I would prefer Brohm but we will see when Training Camp starts on July 27.

Brohm and Flynn have time to sort themselves out. Rodgers injuries are a concern but I think if he stays healthy he will hold down the starting job for at least two years. Than we will have a 3 way QB competition.
