2 down, 6 left. After Mississippi State was eliminated Sunday and Fullerton was eliminated tonight in an amazing game, we have 6 teams left in the College World Series. This is where things get interesting. Tomorrow we have two loser-bracket games, and Wednesday we have two more. And btw I went 3-1 last round and I am 7-1 overall. Pretty good.
Louisville (1-1) vs. North Carolina (1-1)
Carolina was recently hammered by Rice 14-4 and Louisville defeated Mississippi State after losing to the same Rice team. I am tempted to pick underdog Louisville here, but the Tar Heels are simply too strong a hitting team to ignore. North Carolina to advance, eliminating Louisville.
UC Irvine (1-1) vs. Arizona State (1-1)
UCI and ASU face off once again after the Anteaters won a spectacular game against the Fullerton Titans and the Sun Devils lost to defending champion Oregon State 12-6 this afternoon. While I am once again tempted to go with the upstart Irvine squad, the 5th ranked Arizona State team is simply too deep and too talented. Arizona State to end the Irvine Cinderella story here and now.
After these games conclude tomorrow night, Rice will face the winner of the Louisville-NC game and Oregon State will face the winner of the UCI-ASU game. Check back in tomorrow night for those predictions and more college baseball
