Saturday, August 30th. The first day of the 2008 college football season. It's Alabama vs. Clemson on ABC at 8:00 (7:00 central) Its both teams opener in the Georgia Dome. The game is at a neutral site, but clemson in the home team, Alabama is away.
Clemson has a very good QB in Cullen Harper and two good running backs in James Davis and C.J Spiller. Also with a good recieving core with Aaron Kelly and Tyler Grisham.
Alabama also has a good QB, John Parker Wilson, along with him at Tailback Terry Grant. The starting recievers are Mike Mcoy, Nikitia Stover, and Freshman Julio Jones.
This season opener is going to make or break these 2 teams. Even though this is a Non-confrence game, the winner will most likely finish better than the other. This is a must see game, and in my opinion one of the best non-confrence games of the year.
Clemson will be a top 10, if not top 15 team in the preseason polls, and Alabama will most likely be in the top 25. Both teams are going into this game thinking there the better team, and it will all be decided on the playing field. I know Saban will have the guys ready, but so will Tommy Bowden. This game could go either way, but heres my prediction, and please leave your comments.
Alabama 27 Clemson 24

LSU lost some good players and their QB situation is not the best. Auburn will be learning a new system. Arkansas goes to a new coach. Alabama has top recruiting class and has another year in Sabans system. Things look to be in plave for Mississippi St and Bama to have solid years.

Yeah I thought they did better. They only have 6 top 25 wins since 2005

LSU has 4 great RB's, the best receiving core in the west, one of the top 2 O-line units in the nation according to most publications, the best D-line in the SEC, an All-american LB and a talented secondary, they'll be fine.
and as for auburn, They seemed to do well with the new system when they beat clemson who most people say is a top 10 team and that was before they had an entire off-season to learn it.

I think people will be stacking the box on LSU. Trying to put the game in the QB's hands. But, I do concede you have some great receivers. That Holiday kid is to fast. I watched him run track. He finished well. FSU won the national title but Holiday had a better time then Micheal Ray Garvin FSU CB

I still stick to my 24-20 Clemson win but say Bama still goes on to have a great season.

I never said LSU was not a contender. I only said they had some questions at QB. It is tough to be truly dominant without a QB who at least has some experience. The team as a whole is solid. If the kid could judt play mistake free football the team could win easy but I figure freshmen mistakes alway lead to turnovers. LSU will prolly still be able to run pretty well even with the box stacked on them though. If you guys still had Perllioux (not sure how its spelt)I would call LSU the showe-ins

Also keep in mind that they won nine game in 2004 with a freshmen QB and it would of been ten if Saban would of anounced he was leaving after the bowl game, and that team didn't have hafl the talent of this one

I put you guys at about 9-4 or 10-3. Do you think that will be enough to win the west??
