Anyone get tired of hearing about the next overpaid athlete? It seems that every year in most pro sports someone is making more than we ever thought could happen.
The passion and love has slowly died and now athletes will do whatever it takes to others and their own bodies; to win. I can remember watching Hank hit and Pete slide head first. Going to a game was exciting and the passion the athletes had made me want to play sports.
Now it is about a paycheck and trying to keep them from drugs and violence. The role models are leaving and the"I am not a role model" athletes are emerging. I say they all make 100,000 and get performance pay over that amount. If it returns to ability and passion; you will see parks refill and fans get excited. I love the game! I support my teams know matter the record. I am just a fan! I know being a fan now means heavy ticket prices and 5.00 for a coke at games. I guess there are a few left that love the game but we are headed to a nation of TV fans and playoff fans.
I love going to a rec game and seeing young players that love the game play. It may not have home run kings or golden gloves but what it does have in the stand are real fans.
