So,  we have the results...

The media has selected our punter, Brantley, the preseason All Big XII list.

That is how far we (Aggies) have dropped.

I was a Fran apologist until last year.  His offense was a little archaic, but it looked really good at times with Reggie running the show (problem is it also look pedestrian at times too...).  But you need to give a coach 4 to 5 years to fully stock his program with "his guys", and let it go.  Quick turnaround National Championships (Stoops won with a huge chunk of Blake's guys, and Meyer won with Zook's guys) show an improvement in coaching ability, but not necessarily program building.  But when Fran refused to mold his offense to the talent around him (McGee getting more carries than Goodson, for example), I started questioning my faith in the guy.  I read on Rivals how "pretty good" our recruiting classes were (they were never great, but ranged usually in the 20s or around 20 as a ranking for 4 to 5 years).  The result, 1 selection, a punter...

Aggies, we need to hold our breath and hope that Sherman is the right guy.  We questioned Dollar Bill Byrne in the past.  "Get rid of Mark Johnson for this Childress guy!?!"  That one worked.  He got the used car dealer B.G. to leave UTEP and get our basketball program back on track.  Turgeon, jury is still out.  Softball gets to the National Championship.  The track team is excelling.  Dollar Bill has made the right moves in the past.  My concern was this NFL guy and his ability to recruit.  Word on the forums, no cause for concern there.  OL, LB, and RB want to come to College Station for Coach Sherman's program.  Kines, the 2nd choice for D-Coordinator, has the D excited and wanting to attack (stark difference from Darnells' "bend, don't break philosophy").  There are always growing pains when a program changes like this.  But seriously, 1 selection, a punter?!?!

Preseason is about potential.  It seems as though we have little.  We are picked between 4th and 5th in the Big XII South.  Some venues have us losing 7 games this year (NM and Baylor were the surprise losses on one site).  Me, I see 8 wins as the benchmark.  Maybe we win a game we shouldn't, maybe we lose a game we shouldn't.  4 losses (TTech, OU, t.u. are games we should go in as solid 'dogs) and a bowl trip.  Not enough for you?  That is the best Fran produced (see Cotton Bowl spanking by Tennessee)...

August 30th can't come soon enough
