Hey it's Jay and in case you did not know, I am posting MLB Power Rankings (1-30) every Saturday here, on FanNation. And what do you know? It is Saturday, 12:00 PM in the great city of St. Louis. Here are this weeks power rankings!
1. Chicago Cubs
After getting Rich Harden, the Brewers responded with CC. If D!ck Harden stays healthy, the Cubs have the best rotation in the NL, if not the whole league.
2. Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim
The A's traded Rich Harden which means that instead of worrying about him they have to "worry" about Sean Gallagher. Vlad is on a tear and their pitching is best in AL.
3. Boston Red Sox
The Rays are slumping badly, losing in 8 straight, so the Red Sox are ready to roll coming out of the break.
4. Tampa Bay Rays
Obviously, the right choice was made to put Longoria on the AL All-Star team. Without him, they dont win. The Rays showed signs of last years team going into break. They CANNOT afford to have that carry over into the back end of July. Especially with Yanks and Sox just behind them.
5. St. Louis Cardinals
Ludwick, Glaus, and Ankiel are all on a tear right now. Ludwich and Ankiel both recently reached the 20-home run mark before the break. Everyone in STL was worried about not having a bat other than Pujols BEFORE the sesaon.. Well now we have three.
6. Chicago White Sox
Activated Bobby Jenks yesterday. I think that they will trade for a reliever, seeing that is what they need considering their starters have been A+.
7. Milwaukee Brewers
Getting CC Sabathia is exactly what this team needed. CC pitched 9 innings of 4 hit ball last night and recorded 10 SOs, the dude is locked in. Ben Sheets and CC are both Cy Young candidates, on the same team. Watch out Cubbies/Cardinals.
8. Minnesota Twins
Everyone thought this season was going to be a wash but what do they know? Expect the Twins to try and get a power bat before the deadline. They are second to last in the AL in homers.
9. New York Mets
Some people are not buying into their recent streak. Well I am. They are tied for first in NL East lead with a struggling Phillies team. They will atop the East all by theirselves by the end of July.
10. Oakland Atheletics
Expect them to fall big-time in the next few weeks. They have lost both of their top starters and, unless they get a big bat, I dont see them contending at the end of the year.
11. New York Yankees
Andy Pettitte has allowed two runs or less in five of his last six outings. Just like the Red Sox, the Yanks are capitalizing on the Rays' slump. Only 5.5 games out.
12. Philadelphia Phillies
Even after getting Joe Blanton, the rotation isnt looking great right now. Blanton will HAVE to step it up in order to continue to contend. Howard is officially into a groove.
13. Texas Rangers
The AL MVP is going to come out of this team, whether it be Kinsler or Hamilton. They have a lot of work to do in the West but they are still in the hunt.
14. Florida Marlins
Since the Marlins aren't likely to land much in the way of outside help, finding a gem like Chris Volstad could be key if they're to remain in contention. Volstad looked like the real deal and could remedy a big team need.
15. Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays had a great final series before the break. They won the series against the Yanks behind two great starts from Halladay and Burnett.
16. Detroit Tigers
The offense hasnt lived up to the hype BUT they are in the top 5 across the board. This past series against the Twins was a bit ugly. They had their chance and passed on it.
17. Arizona Diamondbacks
I cannot believe that they are still in first in the West. It has been very very bad lately but I see a decent finish for the D-backs and a playoff spot.
18. Atlanta Braves
After sending Jeff Francoeur to AAA and then bringing him back up, Braves have played nicely and Francoeur has looked better. They arent that many games out but are still 4th in the East..
19. Baltimore Orioles
They are in the neighborhood of .500 ball and noone expected that. However, they have lost 8 of the past 9 and looks as if things are going back to what we should of expected.
20. Houston Astros
Lance Berkman is stroking the ball and he should finish MVP even if he has a "not as good" second half. His numbers are just that high up there. Only allowed 5 runs in past 3, scored 13. 6-4 in past 10.
21. Los Angeles Dodgers
22. Pittsburgh Pirates
23. Cinncinati Reds
24. Cleveland Indians
25. Kansas City Royals
26. Colorado Rockies
27. San Francisco Giants
28. San Diego Padres
29. Seattle Mariners
30. Washington Nationals
And there you have it. This weeks power rankings, enjoy.
Love me or hate me, that is sports through the eyes of Jay. I am out.

the Twinkies still get no respect, the hottest team in baseball the last month and a half I think they only have like 6 losses in that span, but good job man

Can't forget Glaus in that Cardinal lineup. The guy has been coming on strong for a few weeks now. Wouldn't doubt it if he wound up leading the team in round trippers!

Nice job on these rankings, STLDiehard. As much as I hate to admit it, the top spot for now belongs to the Cubs, but hopefully this road trip will move them out of that spot. Losing 2 of 3 to Houston is a good first step.

Yes, yes it is. Garcia had some good stuff yesterday if you really look at it and Carp pitched 4 innings only allowing 1 hit and 0 runs in his first rehab start.
