Hello my fellow San Diego Padres fans, let alone the rest of the fans of NL West squads today - the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies, and the San Francisco Giants. So what the hell happened?!?!?!!? I am here to say I am well aware my Padres are the worst team in all of baseball right now with the prospects for improvement not looking too good. But in the NL West, somehow, they still hold a glimmer of hope. So I hate to spread my misery to the rest of the NL West fandom out there, but let's be honest Dodger, D-Back, Rockies, and Giants fans we all SUCK together. Truly at this point, after crying all of last season and all winter right here how disrespected the NL West always is, it's time to admit no one in this division deserves a play-off spot. Just give it to whoever comes in third in the NL Central, be it the Cardinals or Brewers.

So let's wax nostaligic here with the NL West. Let's look back to a time that is not now -  (please realize I'm a Padres fan here and this will be Padres heavy)...

Remember when... the NL West was going to be the class of the National League in back in February?

Remember when...  the Padres weren't going to need Milton Bradley's bat anyway?

Remember when... the best pitching in baseball was going to have the best four-team race of any division (D-Backs, Dodgers, Rockies, Padres)?

Remember when... Arizona was going to be the run-away NL West champ and best team in the NL back in May?

Remember when... Troy Tulowitzki was going to be the best shortstop in the world?

Remember when... Andrew Jones would make sure the Dodgers were the NL West's best?

Remember when... Barry Bonds would definitely be signed by somebody sooner than later?

Remember when... Padres fans just knew Jim Edmonds was the right choice for Petco's outfield and in the batting order? (wait, scratch that one, who the hell believed that?)

Remember when... The Rockies' run in 2007 wasn't a fluke?

Remember when... it was reassuring Khalil Greene signed that contract extension in San Diego over the winter?

Remember when... Peavy-Young-Maddux-Prior-Wolf was going to be the best rotation in the division by June and lead San Diego to the division lead by All-Star break?

Remember when... Webb and Haren ruled the world too?

Remember when... Joe Torre was going to be the NL West's best manager with the "Yankee resume". (oops, might still happen)

Remember when... we all had hope except the Giants who were going to be the worst team in pro sports and not the Padres?

OK, you get the picture. I could go on and on and one. I'm tired of this.

So how are the Portland Beavers doing these days? (oh wait, they're all impersonating major leaguers in Padres uniforms already)
