Here now, is a sneak preview at the Mac Bros. Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings (Draft Edition). Enjoy.
1. Randy Moss (NE) Bye Week 4—After a monster ’07 season, Moss returns as this year’s pick as “the fantasy WR”. While he will be hard pressed to repeat his lofty numbers of a season ago, Moss should remain head and shoulders above the rest.
2. Terrell Owens (DAL) Bye Week 10—Expect another huge fantasy campaign for this top flight wide out. T.O. will remain the top target in a high-powered Dallas attack that enabled him to accumulate over 1,300 yards and 15 TD’s last season.3. Reggie Wayne (IND) Bye Week 4—Despite the likely return of Marvin Harrison, Wayne should remain Peyton Manning’s go to guy in ’08. This deep threat is as consistent as they come, and a top flight fantasy WR.
4. Braylon Edwards (CLE) Bye Week 5—He is coming off of a breakout season in which he totaled 1,106 receiving yards. His 16 receiving TD’s ranked him second in the NFL behind only Randy Moss in ’07. Edwards has great chemistry with signal caller Derek Anderson, and he is expected to be among the best fantasy WR’s in ’08.
5. Andre Johnson (HOU) Bye Week 8—In spite of missing 7 games last season, this stud wide out still managed to accumulate an impressive 60 receptions for 851 yards and 8 TD’s. If Johnson can stay off of the sidelines for the entire 2008 season, he could easily become the most productive WR in all of fantasy football.
6. Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) Bye Week 7—He led the NFC last season in both receptions (100) and yardage (1,409), and was ranked 5th in the conference with 10 TD’s. He is one of the most talented receivers in the game, but Fitzgerald will need unproven QB Matt Leinart to step up in order to maintain his elite fantasy status.
7. Marques Colston (NO) Bye Week 9—After a slow start, Colston broke out of his sophomore slump to become one of 2007’s top fantasy WR’s. There are few QB-WR combinations in the NFL as combustible as Brees and Colston, expect another monster effort.
8. T.J. Houshmandzadeh (CIN) Bye Week 8—His 112 receptions tied him for 1st in the NFL last season. He also added an impressive 1,143 receiving yards and 12 TD’s. Houshmandzadeh has improved on his previous stat lines each and every season. He should be particularly useful in reception heavy fantasy leagues.
9. Steve Smith (CAR) Bye Week 9—87 receptions for over 1,000 yards and 7 TD’s would be considered a solid season’s work for most WR’s, but for Steve Smith those figures were considered a huge disappointment to fantasy owners in 2007. The good news is that he will have Jake Delhomme back at QB in ’08. If they can reconnect with the chemistry of season’s past, Smith will regain his status as a top flight fantasy WR. We like his chances.
10. Torry Holt (STL) Bye Week 5—He may be the most consistent fantasy WR in the NFL with 8 consecutive seasons of at least 80 receptions and 1,000 yards receiving. Holt saw his TD total drop slightly last season, but the offense was plagued with injuries and in shambles. The offense looks to be back on track for ’08, so barring injury; we expect Holt to exceed his output from last season.
11. Plaxico Burress (NYG) Bye Week 4—He tallied over 1,000 yards receiving and 12 TD’s last season, not bad for a guy who played the entire season on a bad ankle. Burress should be back at full strength in ’08 and has the potential to put up monster fantasy numbers.
12. Chad Johnson (CIN) Bye Week 8—While Ocho Cinco provided fantasy owners with a few huge games in ’07 in route to solid totals, he was severely lacking in consistency from week to week. After a drama filled off season and plenty of criticism, Johnson will be back in ’08 with a chip on his shoulder ready to prove his critics wrong.
