I have a four-Day weekend so I thought I would take a stab at ranking the Pac-10....All I have is beer and time.

Quarterbacks

#1 Arizona State...Rudy Carpenter ... Great season last year. Look for him to put up big numbers again this year.

#2 Washington... Jake Locker... This guy has talent. He needs help from his WR's who lack experience.

#3 Arizona...Willie Tuitama ... Unlike Washington, 'zona has good WR's. Should help Willie in the stat department.

#4 Oregon... Nate Costa with a strong O-line, backfield and TE will surprise in 2008.

#5 California...Nate Longshore

#6 USC... Sanchez and Mustain...Nothing but questions here...all I know is they got no Booty.

#7 UCLA...Ben Olson...for now anyway,until he gets hurt.

#8 Oregon State... Yaaawwwnnn

#9 WSU...Gary Rogers...I know little about this guy. The RS Sr has been in few games but has made some plays when called on. Wait and see here but don't expect much.

#10 Stanford... Still unsure who it will be...perhaps they will put in the Tree...

Running Backs

#1 Oregon...Jeremiah Johnson, LaGarette Blount, and Andre Crenshaw (all will play on Sunday's)will share carries and give defenses fits.

#1 USC... really it's a toss-up between Oregon and USC...both teams bring fear with their backfields. Stafon Johnson and Joe McKnight are A+ backs.

#3 ASU...Keegan Herring and Dimitri Nance should be tough to stop if the O-line can give them a chance.

#4WSU...Dwight Tardy...with a new QB he will be a key player in the Cougar O... now can he stay healthy?

#5 UW...Chris Polk, Brandon Johnson and Paul Homer(maybe the best FB in the Pac) may surprise you...

#6 UCLA...Kahlil Bell and Raymond Carter will be relied on to carry a weak Bruin O.

#7 Oregon State...Ryan McCants and James Rogers will make for an interesting Civil War. McCants is a hard nosed back that can run through you and make you wish you stayed in bed. Up to the QB to feed them.

#8-10 Arizona, Cal and Stanford...of the three Cal's Jahvid Best could have an impact...if he can stay healthy.

Wide Receivers

#1 Arizona State...Jones and McGaha return to snag balls from Rudy. And should one or both go down ASU has good depth on their bench. Good times for Sun Devils.

#2 Arizona...Mike Thomas and the rest of the talented Wildcat receivers should have a great season if Willie Tuitama does his job as is as good as some expect he might.

#3 Oregon State...Darrell Catchings, James Rodgers, and Sammy Stroughter are solid...this is known. If the QB(whoever it may be) can get them the ball, this unit could have a good year. (until 11-29-08)

#4 USC... Thare are some good backs at SC and that won't be changing any time soon, it's just will they stay healthy and can Hazleton and Turner live up to their potential.

#5 Oregon... J.Will...Please...Catch the ball. All the Animals in The Zoo know you can do it and will blow your eardrums out when you do.

#6  Washington State...Gibson looks like a sleeper...could be average...but then he could be the best in the Pac. Willis from reports had a good spring.

#7-10...UCLA, Cal, Stanford and Washington... hard to say if any unit will shine above the next in this group.

Tight End

You only get three.

#1-#2 It's a toss-up between Arizona's Rob Gronkowski and Ed Dickson of Oregon. Both are among the nations best.

#3 UCLA...Logan Paulsen, if he can stay healthy, will join Ed and Rob at the top of the Pac-10.

#4-#10...To much parity for me to spend time ranking them....feel free to blast my laziness.

Offensive Line

#1 Oregon...Unger and Tupou lead a unit that rises above most in the nation.

#2 WSU...Four returning starters, including Remington Trophy hopeful Kenny Alfred.

#3 California...They need to fill a few spots at Guard and Tackle but they have a standout Center in Alex Mack.

#4 Washington...They protect the QB and open holes for the RB's. Thats the job description and the Fuskie O-line takes care of business.

#5 Arizona...Four returning starters. Good Pass protection... but weak on the left side.

#6-#7...Toss-up USC and Oregon State...Usc has young guys with potential to fill holes.  OSU has some gaps but they always seem to step up for the Beavers.I think coach Riley has something to do with that.

#7-#10...Arizona State, Stanford and UCLA... Well ASU is probably the best of the three with Stanford still rebuilding and UCLA in big trouble.

I'll go over Defense another time.

I think your a little bias in saying that Oregon's backfield is as good as USC's, but beside that, it's good blog

I liked Jeremiah Johnson a lot last year as..I guess the best word for him would be a complimentary back, to Jonathan Stewart. I'm anxious to see if he's as good as he looked in his playing time a year ago. Also, I'm very interesting to see if Sanchez at SC can live up to the hype. Also, I like Longshore at Cal a lot..he's just been so up and down..at least when I've seen him he has. Also Jake Locker is definitely a great talent.

Lastly I'm interested to see Arizona..Willie Tuitama seems like a good player. All in all I'm staying up later this year to watch more Pac 10 games than I have in years past.

I tried to stay as objectives as I could brother, but...J.J and Blount are that good. Blount is the man I want to see bust some heads this season. J.J, if he can stay healthy and pick up where he left off,is as good as they come.

So what, Autzen Arthur? We're supposed to take your word for it just because you say so?

I find that your logic isn't always logical.

SERIOUSLY! Don't like it? Don't read it. I am sure that by making my opinion known here, you will blast me for it...One man's views here don't make them fact, but he sure as hell doesn't claim to be the Almighty-All-Knowing Guru of the Pac-10 either.

Speak for yourself, Wilt the Stilt. You Oregon losers wouldn't have anything if you dodn't recruit out of California.

July 30, 2008  12:09 PM ET

That is not true...We wouldn't have anything without Phil Knight! Get you facts straight...and take a typing class.

Mr. hero, if you take a second and look at a roster, you will find not only some fine California players; Ed Dickson, Fenuki Tupou and Patrick Chung for starters, but you will also find that we draw talent from Texas, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Florida and Sheldon High School right here in Eugene Oregon. But thanks for the effort.

Mr. Elf,
Suuuuuunnnnn! A fine Oregon brew the Black Butte XX.

It's true life is good with Phil. But let us not forget to give thanks to the Don...Mike Bellotti, to our Home... The Autzen Zoo, and to the drunken throng assembled within ....and waiting outside...26 Days!
