Yes, he is! All of you espn brainwashed people will disagree and say Youklis. Youklis is great, but I take Kotchman over him any day.
First off I hate fielding stats with a passion, they just don't show how good someone is in the field. And Kotchman has good fielding stats so I'm not trying to make an excuse. But fielding stats don't show it when Kotchman saves a run with a diving catch or when he makes a nice pick on a bad throw. I think Kotchman takes the cake when it comes to pickoff throws and holding runners on.
Kotchman leaves everything on the field, he goes 200% every play, the same can be said of Youklis. However Kotchman does more for his team in the field.
Honestly I would take Kotchman over 80% of all starting 1st baseman. And we may not judge a player on what he does in the field, but what he does with a bat in his hands, it's not right.
I think if people educated them selves by watching the game instead of espn force feeding you this red sox loving BS, and started reporting unbiasedly then I wouldn't even have to make this blog.
