Favre is going to Green Bay for Training Camp? Yes he is!!!
Brett Favre called Packers GM Ted Thompson and he said that he is planning to return to the team and report to training camp this weekend. If he actually goes through with his plans, Favre will have to send a letter of reinstatement to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell before the Packers report to camp.
Just because Favre is planning to return the Titletown, that doesn't mean that this whole saga is over. This story has so many twists and turns that no one knows what is going to happen next. Favre could still decide to retire again or the Pack could trade him to the Bucs, Vikings (boooo!), or any other team that talked with Brett and/or the Packers organization. For now, Brett is planning to go back with the team that made him famous. The conversation between Favre and Thompson was "professional" and the Packers "recognize that they are a better team with their iconic quarterback on the roster." Thompson even said during Thursday's annual shareholders meeting that "families have disagreements, but they overcome them." That is what the Packers and Favre are trying to do.
Favre will try to return to the life that he has known and loved in Green Bay. He never sold his house in Green Bay, never removed any furniture, and never moved his cars from the area. There was a change on the field though. Rodgers is the starting quarterback and Brett will have to try and beat him out if he wants the spot.
I think they are doing the right thing by making Favre compete against Rodgers for the starting spot.
What do you think?
