Got to admit that I am bored. It's been a slow work day, and that has allowed me to do some thinking. I have been thinking a lot lately about A.C. Milan. Milan finally acquired their man, in Ronaldinho last week, and his acquisition will team him up with Kaka as central attack midfielders and push Clarence Seedorf further back into midfield as a central midfielder. I wonder how Seedorf feels about this change?

The reason for the wonder is that Clarence, is a malcontent. The man from Suriname (in South America) but plays internationally for The Netherlands is a talented player who has played for Ajax, Sampdoria, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and A.C. Milan but at 32 he openly sulks when taken off of the field. In one game, when he was replaced by young Brazilian Alexandre Pato he stayed on the field for a period of time and then instead of walking towards the bench and greeting the replacing player, he wanders off towards the locker room: going the long way and taking as much time as possible. Clarence still believes that he is "The Man" and the signing of Ronaldinho and his position removal has me worried about A.C. Milan's chances in Serie A and the locker room situation for manager Carlo Ancelotti.

So worried, that my belief is that you need to sell him. A.C. Milan fans may call me crazy but you need to sell Seedorf. A.C. Milan still needs to acquire a central forward at the striker position, and it wouldn't hurt them to get younger at the back line and whatever transfer fee you get for Seedorf you have to take that and put that towards a target. In 39 appearances he scored 9 goals (which was his second highest goal total for his career). For a team that is in need of an attack midfielder or someone willing to massage his ego he is worth the acquisition. Two of his former teams should be interested in Seedorf. I would consider selling him back to Inter Milan where he was before he came to A.C. Milan (both teams share the San Siro stadium), where he could fill the role that Jose Mourinho would prefer to see Frank Lampard in. Or Seedorf could be sent to Ajax where he started his career in 1992-1995 and could finish it out.

In any case, the guy needs to go. He brings in money, Ronaldinho would get his number 10 shirt back, and sometimes people just need a new change of scenery. I'm not a Milan fan, but I'd be all for it.

As always, thanks for reading.

Equally Bored commentor here - I always find it funny when American sports fans get so upset at TO and guys like that for being prima donnas. They're nothing compared to some of the characters in the World's Game. Talk about PRIMA donnas.

Something tells me that an MLS team might make a play.

I wanted to throw the MLS in there thehemogoblin. I am curious to see what he would do here.

July 25, 2008  04:59 PM ET

i could see a move to MLS also happening, i think a guy that causes more problems than he's worth is like a cancer and you have to cut him loose before he causes more problems, that being said i think Ronnie is still not a guarantee that he will be in shape and regain and maintain that focus he once had with Barca, if you get rid of Seedorf and then Ronnie ends up being a flop then you are in pretty big mess, and with Serie A being as tight and competitive than ever before it's a big risk to take. Personally i am huge Ronnie fan and want nothing more than to see him do well and see more amazing plays from him, but time will tell...

I couldn't agree more seedorf has got to go....he is a distraction and quite frankly he is going to feel even more left out once the season gets going because you know the kaka and ronnie are gonna be doing their whole brazilian thing...and he is a serious distraction. I agree with barca that if ronnie is a flop and they sell seedorf that it could be a mess, but, we are still talking about a two time balon d'or winner on the better side of 30 who already has a great relationship with your star player, as opposed to the 32yo prima donna. Take a chance with ronnie he will be fine.

Seedorf won't come to MLS. His whole tantrum-throwing issues stem from his belief that he's one of the best players in the world and I highly doubt he will take a move into a weaker competition against weaker talent. He wants to prove he's one of the best.

As far as AC Milan selling him, I think it depends on his willingness to drop back into a central midfield position. He has said in the past he preferred playing a more withdrawn position than where he played in Milan's Christmas tree formation next to Kaka. If he's happy with that, then Milan would be foolish to sell him. He's incredibly valuable to their team and it was only a season ago that he was voted best midfielder in the Champions League. There's no reason he can't play with both 'Dinho and Kaka.

Why do people keep saying Milan needs another centre forward? I know people keep saying Pato isn't quite your typical centre forward, but, like Inzaghi, he's a wonderful goal poacher, and they have Marco Borriello on the bench if it becomes apparent that they need a target man. Did anyone see the season Borriello had for Genoa last campaign?

I was looking at Seedorf's Wikipedia page, and the compilation of silverware he has won is jaw dropping:

4 CL Titles
2 UEFA Supercups
2 Club World Cups
1 Scudetto
1 Primera title
2 Dutch Championships
1 Dutch Cup
1 Italian Cup
1 Italian Supercup
1 Spanish Supercup
2 Dutch Supercups

Seedorf has lost a little since his good days, but if ronnie continues his poor form the door can open

at the moment he'll be a good player off the bench for a big club, but thats about it

I remember him 4 or 5 years ago, one of the best CM in the world

THANK YOU FOR THIS BLOG!!! Seedorf is my favorite player of all-time. I think Ancelotti will find a place for him in the midfield but it might be at the expense of Gattuso. He's had great chemistry with Kaka over the years and helped Kaka to reach such high points in his career. Seedorf has to be one of the best midfielders of all time. Such a complete player. People forget how well he plays defensively.

Seedorf is only appreciated by a few. And I've been a Real Madrid fan and a AC Milan fan. The former because I love the team. The latter for their players. Lately my affinity for AC Milan has been diminishing. And when Seedorf leaves, I doubt I'll be the AC Milan fan I used to be.

As an Oranje fan in L.A., (Born in Gouda) I follow my boys no matter where they play. Clarence would do so much better for himself (and his reputation) if he wasn't such a petulant tool. If Mijnheer Seedorf was a class act, he might actually be considered one of the world's most solid, if not necessarily best, players. As it stands, however, he's just another talented prima donna. Singularly unimpressive.

Ronald of Larchmont: Great assesment. After I wrote this, I really looked into Seedorf's career and I really saw the same thing kept popping up. If he really had it all together he would definitely be seen in a much greater light in the game.

Seedorfs not going to the states. Put him on the transfer block. The only place left is the prem or bundesliga. Both countries have the nessecery funds and theyll put up with lierally everything as long as he performs, which he does have a precedent for doing. Anybody remember the chaotic FC HOLLYWOOD days at Bayern? Im not saying that the other leagues and representative teams wont take him, but the other leagues that are competitive, wont satisy seedorfs lust of silverware and playing time simultaneosly
