The Yankees has acquired Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates received talented- outfielder Jose Tabata, RHP- Ross Ohlendorf, Jeff Karstens, and Dan McCutchen.

Nady will fill in the needed right-handed batter spot in the Yankees lineup. Nady- 29- is batting .330 with 13 homers, 57 RBIs, in 90 games.
Marte will help the Yankees need spot in the bullpen for a reliable left-handed pitcher. Marte- 33- was 4-0 with a 3.56 ERA in 47 pitching appearances. He allowed 38 hits and 18 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings.
Pirates:
Jose Tabata- turns 20 in a couple of weeks- He was rated as the best Yanks minor league hitter in batting average. He has had a couple of issues in Double-A Trenton Thunder. One was not backing up another OF on a fly ball and was benched for that. Batting .248, 3 home runs, 36 RBIs, 10 SB in 79 games with Trenton.
Ross Ohlendorf- 26- In his 25 appearances with the Yanks, he went 1-1 with a 6.53 ERA. After being a reliever with the Yanks in the majors, he was turned back into a starter down in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Jeff Karstens- 26- Had some injuries while playing with the Yankees in 2006 and 2007. After a strained right groin in Spring Training he has really improved in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he was 6-4 with a 3.80 ERA in 12 starts.
Dan McCutchen- 26- He was 8-9 with a 3.14 ERA in 20 combined starts at Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
So, there it is all the info of the Yanks-Pirated deal. Also, some new news, orignally Phil Coke and George Kontos, two Yanks minor leaguers were orignally in the deal, but Pittsburgh changed their mind and chose Karstens and McCutchen.
Also, the Yankees optioned Brent Gardner to Triple-A Scranton and designated Latroy Hawkins for assignment.
