07:36 PM ET  07.29 | In the days and times of St. Barack, it's difficult to talk about racism and the injustices of being Black in America sounds preposterous with the next leader of the free world poised to be an African American, but there are times when we must still call a spade a spade. The NBA logo looks like the ball handler is dodging catastrophe or danger. In real life the NBA personifies that image as it has eluded any negativity that could've come out of this referee debacle. To date the biggest hurdle the NBA has faced since Michael Jordan left was finding a new face for its identity. Kobe screwed his chance up to be the league's poster boy. However referee Tim Donaghy and his ring of cronies wanted to leave their mark on the NBA in a totally different way by putting a black eye in the credibility of the National Basketball Association with a scandal that should've rocked the cradle but instead David Stern and the league sidestepped the sideshow, silencing critics and sending the group of small time crooks to jail for a minute. Tim Donaghy has been sentenced to 15 month's in prison and his cohorts also received a year of prison time. He could've received up to as much as 33 months behind bars, but that would've been prolonged publicity and probably would've unleashed some unwarranted information about how the league was in bed with network television to extend playoffs for ratings. People will argue the difference of why Michael Vick received a longer sentencing and had his name drug through the mud was because of his high profile celebrity and the fact that the brutality and cruelty of dog fighting should warrant a harsher penalty. I will argue Tim Donaghy's criminal activity jeopardized the integrity of the NBA and hundreds of billions of dollars for players, owners and Vegas. But the dumbest people in America are Black athletes. Vick too arrogant and cocky to differentiate Fed's versus Virginia Police, never cooperated until all of his co-defendants flipped. To the haters Mike Vick was another over paid cornroll wearing bama who bank-rolled an alleged dog-fighting operation and for that 24-months of federal prison time which may possibly end his career and his economic status as a multi-million dollar professional football player. Tim Donaghy is a white-collar criminal and will likely to get another job before Michael Vick.
