Summer is usually the worst season for a football fan. After the Super Bowl, we had March Madness, after March Madness, we had the NBA Playoffs, now what? Sure, there is baseball, but I really don't care what happens in June anyways. Personally, I don't care if the Texas Rangers' record is 22-46 or 23-46 (made up). They still suck! So, like my other Irish counterparts, I have found nothing more exciting to do than talk about who might start for the Irish in September.
Our Candidates:
Mr. Consistent, He's number 13, but don't call him unlucky (I'm not so sure about that) Ehhhhhhhvan Sharpleeeeeeeeeeeey
He's fast and he'll make plays in the clutch, The Fast, The Furious, Demeeeeeeetrius Jooooooones
Proclaimed the next golden boy, accurate arm, and most-popular guy on campus, Jiiiiimmmmy Claaaaausen
Sorry, but I just had to do that. So there is our candidates after Zach Frazer got eliminated from the race. Here's a few notes on each.
Sharpley: Pros: Works the best with the offense. Knows the playbook. Has game experience.
Cons: Not mobile. Not Notre Dame's QB of the future. Not good at making plays.
Jones: Pros: Very mobile. A playmaker. People don't think he's a great thrower but he's good.
Cons: Not very accurate, Not good with deep ball, bad pocket presence
Clausen: Pros: ND's QB of the future, Slightly mobile (like Brady Quinn), great arm strength, great accuracy.
Cons: Very young. Probably not a good decision maker, over-confident (if you don't believe me check out this link: www.dawgsonline.com/.../clausensmall.jpg)
So, it could be any of them, only Big Charlie knows. I think Sharpley will get the start, but when Notre Dame loses a few games, the fans will be calling for Clausen. Clausen will start for
the remainder of the season, but expect to see Jones coming in for a drive or 2 every game. Write your opinion in the comments.
Go Irish!!
