The best moment of the red sox organization in my opinion was not when we finally eliminated the yankees in the 04 alcs series or the two championships thereafter. Althogh those were great marvels in red sox history, one moment stands out more to me. This year on opening day the red sox invited a man who became the most hated man in boston when he made the error of the century at first base that allowed the new york mets to take the 86 world series. This man Bill Buckner threw the first pitch of the 08 season. Red Sox nation definately showed some class and gave the man they hated for years a standing ovation. Tears came to my eyes as one trickled down his face as he waved to the fans at fenway. This was a point in our history that showed the world that we as red sox fans can give appreciation to a great man although that ball rolled through his legs in game 6 of the world series in 1986. This shold make us proud to be a fan member of the greatest ball club of all time. Thank you Bill Buckner for your many years of greatness with our Boston Red Sox!
