So I missed a post before the Final Four so to speak, and wouldn't you know it, Irvine did it again. The cardiac kids beat Arizona State in 10 innings, 8-7. I had begun to stop comparing the Anteaters to Boise State and began comparing them to another Cinderella story. That's right, UC Irvine is the George Mason of college baseball. Now no sooner had I begun to make this comparison than the Anteaters ran into a huge roadblock, the defending champion Oregon State Beavers. Irvine fought hard, but eventually succumbed to the Beavers, 7-1. That sends the OSU to the championship series for the second consecutive year. In the morning game North Carolina defeated Rice to force a winner-take-all showdown tomorrow night.
North Carolina (3-1) vs. Rice (3-1)
Here we go, winner-take-all, winner to the championship series to face the Oregon State Beavers. Even though the third-ranked Tar Heels defeated Rice this morning, I'm picking the Owls to win this one. Their hitting and pitching are simply too good for the Tar Heels to overcome. You heard it here first, Rice versus Oregon State in the final. Check back tomorrow night for my championship predictions and analysis of this game.
