Cubs set the tone for 2nd half-- leadership is the word | Sooner in WA's Blog

The Brewers had everything going right. An 8 game winning streak before a Sunday loss. Taking the lead from 5 games to even (and 1 game after sunday). The Cubs were headed to Milwaukee and as a road team the Cubs had looked average at best. plus the Brewers 2 "horses" CC and Sheets were to start off the series.

So 4 games in Milwaukee and not only did the Cubs win the series but swept them. And did so in dominating. No humiliating fashion. Outscoring the brewers 31 to 11. And 5 of the brewer's runs were in 9th when trailing 7-0 and 11-1 when they were meaningless.

I thought Sabathia was their saviour. Brewer fans were hopping off of Brett Farve and onto his bandwagon faster than Manny could insult the redsox. There was glee and bragging ... but then the games were played.

Sabathia and brewers lost in game 1 were the Cubs showed maturity and an ability to make key hits, pitches, and take care of brewer miscues. This with the #4 starter, Lilly and his mid 4 era.

Game 2 Zambrano abused brewer bats and the Cubs teed off on Sheets who when pressure applied cracked giving up 7 straight hits in a blowout inning to give cubs a 7-0 lead.

Then Dempster and Harden combined for 15 innings of 2 run baseball. The Cubs showed Lou know hows to get the most out of his team and the team has leaders (staff and players) Yost has to hope for success and their pen was exposed. The Brewers better pray that Carpenter's return is short-lived or they may just stay home in October

Good blog Sooner......and you're right. The Cubs just Embarrassed the Brew Crew in that series.

I don't see anyone catching the Cubs now. The only battle is for the Wild card between the Cards Brewers, and the Mets, probably

Seriously, hope we get an NLCS between the Cards and Cubs. The atmosphere would be electric, and if we have a healthy Wainwright and Carp to team with Lohse.....it'd be a great battle with Z, Harden and Dempster.....
