For those of you who know me around here, you'll know that I harbor some pretty liberal beliefs. However, I do have a head on my shoulders. Gun control only takes guns away from those who obey the laws, give away free gun locks instead. Affirmative action is just racism directed at white people, and apparently that's ok. The American Indians shouldn't be getting paid for what we did to their ancestors 150 years ago. Anyone disagree? Please, prove me wrong.

That's not going to change my vote, however. Obama only plans on raising taxes for the upper fifth percentile, so it's not like McCain's painting him out to be. McCain's economic plan, which is basically to ride it out, scares the living hell out of me, frankly. I'd rather have somebody try and fail to fix it than to have nobody try at all. On defense, the two men are the same, neither one of them has the balls to go against General David Petraeus and dictate when the military's going to go home. Either than that, the age versus experience thing is a wash.

My major question to the Democratic Party is this, however: In an election where the current president is leaving office as one of the most reviled men in the entire country, why do you pick this election as the election to run a black guy and a woman? I'm not a racist or a sexist (or a sexoracist, for that matter), but this move still defies common logic. Now is not the time for that kind of change, this is the one where you run the tight-laced party conformist and step right out with the election. Instead, they've decided that voters who may be racists but are card-carrying Democrats are going to be voting for the white guy instead of their political ideal. This is just another showing of poor strategy by the jackasses who should be in power, to be piled onto Kerry 04, Gore 00, Mondale 84, and the like.

Speaking of Kerry 04, the single greatest political advertisement campaign of all time was run against him. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth managed to paint a decorated Vietnam veteran as someone less knowledgeable on defense, less patriotic, less American than someone who dropped out of the Texas Air National Guard. I acknowledge the sheer genius of a certain Mr. Rove, but I also like the American Dad comparison likening him to Satan. The man's 1/2 evil, 1/2 genius.
