After the issue with Floridas basketball coach signing an NBA contract and then changing his mind; should their be higher penalities on the coach?
Donovan will be welcomed back with open arms; great coach and leader; should he have been allowed to shop, sign and then come back? I understand looking and talking but when you sign; you sign. We are in a society of no Integrity or Character. A coach or players word means nothing. Remember the baseball player " I did not use drugs"!!! He tested positive two weeks later! Miamis former coach"I have not and will not talk to colleges and I will be staying"! He left the next week. I understand money is money and you have to take care of your family. It just seems a shame you have to lie or signing a contract really means nothing to some.
I had an issue with a coach who signed as a teacher and coach. She changed her mind after a broken relationship with a boyfriend. She felt little conviction that she had signed a contract to teach.
I think Donovan is a great coach but he should have not only been fined and not allowed to coach in the NBA for a time. He should have also been on a probational situation at Florida. Coming back and signing their contract will always have them wondering if he will leave after the season gets hard or when the next big offer comes. A six year contract has no value and means nothing. If contracts are signed and broken; the coach should be banned from coaching college or pro. I bet they would think twice before signing if the back-up job was no longer available.
