I'll try to keep these points as organized as possible;
1) Why is it that Favre only communicates via text messages? Did one of his daughters steal his blackberry, or what? And aside from his use of the text message - what is with Favre and Chris Mortensen? Is this something that Deanna Favre needs to know about? It seems like every new revelation in this soap opera comes from Chris Mortensen. I'm half expecting Chris to one day slip up, and say, "Well, Brett told me while we were spooning last night..."
2) Note to those of you who wish that Ted Thompson would get fired; if you can't come up with a better reason to fire him besides, "we owe Favre, he's a legend, and when he goes to the bathroom, he produces rose petals, perfume, and gold leaf," then please just go back to whatever un-lit basement you came from. Funny to see that most of Favre's supporters (like the ones holding up signs at Packers camp) are overweight, and look as though they are 42, and still living with their moms. Seriously, if you can make a replica NFL jersey look skintight, then maybe you should lay off the twinkies for a bit.
3) When is Aaron Rodgers finally going to blow a gasket? Poor guy has to put up with the aforementioned momma's boys, holding up pro-Favre signs at HIS teams practice - you would think at any point now, he's going to climb over that fence at the Hutson Center, and completely beat the tar out of one of those guys. As long as he doesn't break a finger, I'm all for it. Just make sure we get some kind of advanced notice - I want to be there in Green Bay with a camera, and also to cheer you on - maybe kick one of the guys in the ribs while he's down on the ground...step on his twinkie, too.
4) As you might be able to tell, I'm getting more and more bitter about all of this. It was bad enough having to watch the Brewers get swept at home. But then having to turn on my TV, or my computer, and once again having to see MORE Favre news - let's just put it this way; it really sucks to be a fan of Wisconsin sports right now. Hopefully. the Brewers pounding the excrement out of the Braves last night is a sign of better things to come - but for a moment there, I was wondering to myself when the Bucks start playing. RJ, Bogut, and Redd - sounds a whole let better then Uecker saying, "Weeks with a fly ball to left, playable, and the inning is over, stranding the bases loaded." If I had a dime for every time I heard that phrase so far this season, hell, I could pay CC Sabathia's salary for the next 5 years. And yes, Uecker and Powell have said the word "playable" 20,000,000,000 times so far this season (give or take a few).
5) But I digress - as for my final thought; As much as I like the idea of Brett NOT coming back, I absolutely hate the idea of paying him to not come back. I say trade him to Minnesota, OR Chicago. Let them have him. They'll realize very quickly how well thought out the Packers game plan was last season, the moment Favre first whips a prayer down the middle of the field, and ends up throwing an interception. Trust us, we saw that trash for the two years before last year - BEFORE McCarthy told him "DON'T F%$@ING DO THAT ANYMORE." So unless you have two receivers like Driver and Jennings that ran for forever after they caught the ball, don't count on Favre having a season like last year. Maybe, if you're lucky, he'll have a repeat of 2006 - 18 TDs, 18 int's. Very symmetrical. Funny that their record that year was 8-8.

Nope, I didn't need baseball to get me angry about Favre...

I'm sympathetic to your point of view, but you don't understand: the universe will implode if Favre plays for the Vikings. I'm not overly-afraid of his skills at this point (although, let's be honest, the man can still play), it's the existential dilemma involved in seeing a purple #4. It would be... at that point, the tightrope over the abyss would snap. Try to imagine all matter in the universe reversing itself instantaneously, and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. The Jets? fine. Tampa Bay? okay. The queens? ...it would be "bad."

Thompson is awesome, btw, just so we're clear.

You might be correct in that assumption; although, the same theory of the universe imploding on itself has been employed in other sports as well; I'm pretty sure many people thought the world was going to end after both the Red Sox, AND the White Sox won the World Series. And even though it would be incredibly unsettling to see Favre in those very effeminate purple jerseys, it would be even more entertaining to see the horrified look on the faces of Viking fans as Favre heaved his first prayer into triple coverage. Mark my words, if Favre plays in Minnesota, he will be so terrible, that many Minnesotans will be hoping the world will actually end - that, or they'll actually start asking for Jackson to start again.

Very good blog and I couldn't agree more. It's sad to see "fans" act that way instead of supporting Aaron Rodgers, the QB who isn't creating any drama. I feel for the guy. I'm no Packer fan, but I'll be rooting for him. I hope he plays great then parlays that into a huge multi million dollar contract with someone else so those "fans" will be eating crow.

Well, as a Packer fan, I would love not only to see Aaron play great, and get a big contract with the Packers. And to be fair, the amount of Packer fans who support Favre is getting smaller every single day. Just look at what happened at the shareholders meeting; Thompson and McCarthy got a standing ovation.

I don't think that Favre should take the money. I think he should play. If he wants to go to MN, let him. I think the NFL is **** themselves right now at the prospect of the Sept 4th game. By all accounts, it is in everyone's best interest this happens. Except maybe for Tavaris Jackson.
The MN-GB game grabs attention, and we'll see first hand how Aaron Rodgers handles his first game that has a playoff like atmosphere. It's even better that MN-GB is already a bitter rivalry.
The Vikings will understand soon enough what they are getting in Favre. It's not going to matter to Dallas if Favre is in Green, Purple, or a Robe and Slippers watching it on t.v. They're not afraid.
And maybe the moon and stars will align, magically lifting the interception curse that has plagued Favre. The Vikings will get their stadium (and keep the Dome for Favre's personal locker room).
So maybe Favre wants to get one last F*U to Ted Thompson before going out. I don't understand how Favre can think it will be that easy to walk to another team after the chemistry he has had with the Packers for 16 years. Maybe he has **** godmother I don't know about. Good Luck Favre. It's been real. Its been fun. Its been real fun. I don't think the GB organization or Wisconsin will collapse upon themselves when he leaves.
