*sigh* Well, Packer Nation...looks like we're going into year 17 of the Brett Favre era, and year 4 of the "am I retiring, or not" era. So again, here are some more thoughts;
1) Once again, I have no explanation as to why Ted Thompson keeps ending up being the fall guy for all of this. No explanation whatsoever. Sure, he perhaps could have handled the situation a little better. But at the same time, why isn't anyone saying "This is a mess created by a primadonna named Brett?" It was Favre, not Ted Thompson, who was considering retirement every year, for the past four years. It was Favre, not Thompson, who ACTUALLY RETIRED. Frankly, I think someone should send Ted Thompson on a full years, paid vacation for all of this. Not only did Thompson have to fend off the hoarding, idiotic masses who would gladly take a bullet for Favre, but he also had to deal with the man himself, AND the nosey commissioner of the NFL...which leads to my next point;
2) Why, oh why, was Roger Goddell involved in this? Sure, I can understand why you would want to perhaps, keep one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL from possibly embarrassing themselves...but, once again, this proved how infalliable a character Favre has become. It's never Brett's fault for causing this kind of drama. Clearly, it's the Packers fault. I can't imagine how many ulcers Ted Thompson must have. This whole time, it couldn't be more clear as to whose side Goddell was on; it was Goddell who was always calling up Favre and asking if there was anything he could do for him. Never did he call up the Packers front office, and perhaps say at the very least, "I understand your position in this, and I understand why you are doing what you are doing. Hopefully, some kind of resolution can be worked out. Let me know if there's anything that I, or the NFL can do for you." Now, was that so hard? But no, instead of trying to see the issue from both sides, the Commish decided instead to hop on the Brett Bandwagon, and in the process, give a slap into the face of that much revered cornerstone franchise. Heck, I'm surprised we didn't see Goddell, wearing a Favre jersey, and hanging out with the several hundred people with no lives who greeted Favre when he, appropirately enough, arrived at the GB airport IN A THUNDERSTORM. WOW...
3) I just saw that Jemele Hill and Skip Bayless on that extremely lame ESPN2 show- what is it, First Take? - talk about Favre. After watching this, I have come to this conclusion; If it were up to me, both of those people would have their breeding priveledges revoked.
4) As for Aaron Rodgers; If I were you kid, demand a trade. Clearly, Brett has become to big for even the league itself to handle, and unless the Madden Cover-boy curse keeps going this year, you probably won't be playing this year (or, if a trade happens...but I think Ted's too tired to do that anymore). I would certainly understand, and I hope the Packers would understand too. You have paid your dues holding a clipboard, and you are more than deserving to get your shot. I have high hopes for you, but luckily, I also have some high hopes for Brian Brohm. So if you were to leave, at least the Packers wouldn't be completely screwed.
5) So in conclusion, I must say that I really don't know what to feel about all of these new revelations. Obviously, I can't complain about getting a QB like Favre back on my favorite team. On the other hand, the circumstances surrounding how he got back on that team, is rather troubling. But, as with all quarterbacks, in the end, the only thing that will matter is if he wins. If this team succeeds like they did last year, I, and anyone else who was against Favre in the first place, will quickly forget all of this.

I think the packers don't want Favre because of the Madden Curse...these people have a funny take on it!

I thought I was the only one who thought Thompson wasn't the source of this saga. Favre has become a selfish person just like all athletes are. Most people don't even know who Thompson is and Favre is or was an icon, so everyone jumps on his bandwagon.
The Packers wanted to trade him to the Jet or the Bucks, but Favre wouldn't even talk to either of those teams. My understanding is once Favre reports to camp he loses his right to refuse a trade, so now would be the time to trade him to a team he absolutely doesn't want to go to and the Packers can have the last laugh.
My guess is Favre would retire again.
