I was trying to watch the news in Milwaukee Wisconsin this past week about a hostage situation at the Pewaukee City Hall, but to my great displeasure, ANOTHER breaking news came up. Only this time it was for Brett Favre...Apparentley a press conference telling us nothing new about Brett Favre is more important than people dying...
Oh well. You cant win them all.
Anyways, I have heard many rumors of the Packers trading Brett Favre to the Vikings or Bears. Well...I cant exactly see this scenario playing out for a couple of reasons.
1.) The packers arent idiots, they know that Brett would greatly increase the Vikings potent offense, and make them quite dangerous. Its almost a given fact that you dont trade star players inside your division...Football 101. I also think they would like him to push Aaron Rodgers along, giving him some kind of competition.
2.) The Bears dont want to add nearly 12 million dollars of cap nor do the Vikings especially after they aquired Jared Allens contract and want to sign AP to a mega million multi year deal soon.
3.) Both the Bears and Viks have gone through a youth movement, and adding Favre would only hinder the prodcution of Tavaris Jackson, John David Booty (both have a lot of potential), and for the Bears, Favre would be a one maybe 2 year patch job, and that doesnt make sense because they arent even going to be close in that span of time. I think its better if the Bears went and found their future, not there miserable present.
4.) Finally, and by far most importantly, both teams just dont have the trade material. Both teams are thin at nearly every position, and I know for a fact the Packers wanted and demanded a "player" and a decent draft pick. So we are looking at the Vik's giving up Antoine Winfield and a 3rd maybe 2nd round pick for Favre. Or something close to that caliber, maybe even higher. And if either team went out and made that deal, they would be depleted at one position maybe 2 or 3.
