This isn't going to be a very long post, because it's message is simple.  I have always considered my fellow Packer fans to be some of the best fans in any sport.  They have always been respectful and classy, and extremely loyal to their team - even when that team went 30 years without a title.  There are few greater locations in the sporting world then Lambeau Field on a Sunday afternoon.  But the recent actions by Packer fans, both at the family day scrimmage this past Sunday, or at training camp the following days, have been way more then I can possibly stomach.  I don't think there is a person out there who would disagree with the statement that Aaron Rodgers has been, without question, the most classy and level headed figure throught this whole Brett Favre soap opera.  He has said nothing to inflame the situation, and has done nothing more then show up for practice, and play football.  Yet here he is, at practice, leading HIS team, and having to hear his own fans boo him, and spew curses towards his direction.  I did not think it would ever be possible for me to lose any faith over Packer fans - but their recent actions have just about killed any good feeling that were left.  I can understand that people have differing opinions over how the Favre situation should have been handled...but booing Aaron Rodgers?!  How DUMB can you people be?  We in Wisconsin have to put up with the redneck, trailer trash stereotypes enough - but you morons, you brainless twits, are ruining it for the non-inbred Packer fans in this state.  Aaron has done NOTHING WRONG.  You want to take your anger out on someone?  Fine.  Shoot a small animal.  Call up Ted Thompson's office and call him all sorts of dirty words.  Go cow tipping.  Go drive your pick-up truck in a mud field, and then punch your fist through the walls of your trailer home - but for God's sake; don't boo the man who has nothing to do with anything that has happened.  Aaron wasn't the one who told Favre to come back.  Nor was he the one who told Thompson to deny him his old position.  All Rodgers did was get drafted.  Now, I'm holding out hope that all of these boo-birds really are just the absolute trash of Wisconsin.  The idiots who were too dumb to graduate high school.  Yes, I know I'm being harsh, but good God - I can't stress enough how embarassing and infuriating this is for the rest of us (at least, for me it really is).  Just please; any of you have a problem with Aaron being quarterback, take it out on his coaches, his general manager, and the team president.  Don't make yourselves look any dumber by booing Rodgers - because I tell you what; you people look REALLY f--king dumb from where I'm standing.

I agree with you. As a Packer fan this is incredibly frustrating to me...booing Aaron is absolutely ridiculous. It's not Aaron's fault that we have to move on..and that the organization is doing what was in the best interest of the team. The one quote from Favre that's always gotten to me..."I knew there was a possibility that the Packers would move on after I retired"..that may not have been the exact quote but it's to that effect. That just annoyed me beyond belief. It's incredibly embarrassing to me too. It's just ridiculous to boo A-Rod during the Family Night scrimmage..especially when the guy has done nothing but handle this well. Sorry this was so long.

"Aaron Rodgers has been, without question, the most classy and level headed figure throught this whole Brett Favre soap opera."

Agreed.

Agreed.

Good Blog Dizzle.

This is actually a good thing, now you who are there in GB can remember who the idiots are that are acting that way and shun them at the next game.

Good blog. But fans are booing Rodgers because he sux, not because he has done something wrong.

August 5, 2008  10:29 PM ET

Whoa Undefeated...it's way too early to say Aaron Rodgers sucks. I understand that these are two different situations but we let Brett Favre develop and go through the "growing up" phases of his career. We at least owe the same thing to Aaron Rodgers.

Honestly, I don't get anyone saying Aaron Rodgers sucks...is it from preseason games? That's just stupid if it is. In the preseason Aaron is usually playing with a bunch of back ups. So, of course he's going to look not as good.

I agree badgerfan; WAY to early to judge Aaron Rodgers, based solely on one scrimmage. It wasn't even a preseason game. And after seeing him preform so well last year in Dallas, I'm convinced that he at least has the guts to be a QB in this league. Think about it; after spending most of his career, up to that point, doing nothing, he was suddenly tossed into the fire, in one of the biggest games of the year - and almost led the Pack to victory. Give him a year before we start rushing to judgments.

And good news from the Milwaukee Journal;

Looks like this really is just a very vocal minority...

First, I dig Aaron's haircut. I'm a chick, so I can say that.

Second, I imagine these Favre fans have nothing much else going on in their lives. It takes a lot of effort to hate someone that badly and to come down to practice early enought to get a spot right next to Rodgers so they can boo him. (Did anyone REALLY believe Favre would be showing up at practice. Apparently THEY did).

Third, I think the NFL's code of conduct was coincidently (or not) released right after fans were booing Rodgers at a scrimmage. I'm not going to cite legalese, but the NFL reserves the right to kick any fans out for behaving badly or doing other things that would distract the team. I'm guessing the first people to get thrown out will be so-called Favre fans.

Fourth, I'd be willing to start up a website to pay for a one-way ticket for these Favre fans out of Wisconsin. Tampa Bay is perfect. Because it's, you know, far away. I think their IQ levels are just about right to visit the Magic Kingdom. Without their beer bottoms busting the rides.

Fifth, I'm glad someone else beat me to a blog about classless fans.

Does anyone know how to change the tag line? I think I'll change it to Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood.

Great POST! Well said. I've been trashing the coach, the president, and the GM, but even though I'm a die hard Favre fan, I still hope that Aaron can stay healthy and make the Pack a decent team. While I've lost faith in the Packer management and coaches, I still believe the Packer players are great and deserve respect regardless how Ted and his "shucks, me too, boss" coach have "mis"managed things.

I happen to be a favre fan, however, I am not bashing Rodgers because he had nothing to do with this. The blame for this is to be pointed towards those directly involved, namely Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy. But packer fans have been viewed by most of the sporting world as some of the nicest, most loyal, and classiest fans around. Lets not let this crazy ordeal tarnish the reputation that the whole organization, fans included, have earned through the good years as well as the not-so-.good years.

Just heard on ESPN that while Rodgers was at QB in camp today the fans in the stands were chanting Favre, Farve! Ouch.

August 6, 2008  10:18 AM ET

They weren't just chanting for Favre - I heard the other day (on ESPN) that a little kid came up to Rodgers and told he "f--king stinks." Like I've said; classy...

"Does anyone know how to change the tag line? I think I'll change it to Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood."

-That's funny, because after Favre retired, er...took a break, me and my buddy thought up a plan to show up at a Packer game with a big sign that said "Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood." We even planned on wearing cardigan sweaters, comb over haircuts - the whole Mr. Rodgers experience. Maybe we'd even take a little trolly along too.
