The Phillies scored in a total of 4 runs in the first 3 innings, giving the Phils an edge their pitching would not relinquish. In the 6th Kendrick was replaced by pinch hitter Mike Cervanek who is 31 and 0-2 in his only major league at-bats. With Bruntlett on 3rd and the infield in, Cervanek bounced an infield single past third for his first ML hit/RBI.
