The Cardinals played the Saints in their first preseason game last night and here are my reactions: I thought Leinart looked sharp out their with his only incompletion being a drop by jj arrington, but also most of his completions were only dumpoffs and he really didnt throw any balls down the field. He made a nice 3rd down pass to rector with pressure and overall he did a good job. I REALLY like the rookie Tim Hightower, reminds me of a marion barber, tough runner with the dreads hanging and will get some carries this year. Steve Breaston is my fantasy sleeper this year, had a very nice game last night and all Ive been hearing is great things from him. He will complement Boldin and FItz much better then Bryant Johnson.( Niner fans will get all the frustration that comes with him when he drops his first pass in week 1).
The first team defense was very messy last night as Drew Brees ate them up and the stupid penalties were back. Darnell DOckett face mask on the first play was stupid as was wilson delay of game and Smith offsides. We CAN NOT do that in a month. Other than that I thought we stopped the run very well. The 2nd team playeed really well showing the depth the Cards have in the front 7 with 6"8 280 Calais Campbell coming off the end and kenny iwebewa getting a big 4th down sack. Ali highsmith who I have no idea how he was undrafted made a huge goaline tackle on 4th and inches to save a touchdown. I also liked the way DRC played and he made a huge hit on a guy twice as big then him.
In the first preseason game you got to look at the score at the half and that was 10-7 Cards. IN the 2nd half it was more 3rd stringers then 2nd. I know preseason scores dont mean nothing and the Saints had alot of guys out but you got to find the positives and move on...especially with Leinart.
