Hey people, and welcome back to one of my blogs. This blog is about the NBA's travels to European teams, and my thoughts about it. Also, on a side note, I would like to point out two blogs of mine I think are delivering a message. In my last blog, I already told you about my Kobe Bryant Blog. But here is the link to my very first blog, about the off-season moves(the funny thing is most of them didn't come true but still...). Here is the link.

It looks like the media is trying to work up a story about players leaving to Europe. If you ask me, its a little over the top. In short, I think less talented players will leave to Europe while the more talented stay. Here's the story about it.

Josh Childress left the NBA to Greece for a $32 million contract for 3 years, far more than an NBA team would have payed him. The weaker talents like Carlos Arroyo, Nenad Kristic, and others have considered leaving or have already left. But now there is a story about superstar players leaving for Europe. Let me get into it in a second. First, I would like to point out, even the substandard talent that has left will be back very soon, at the most 2-3 years. They simply want the money and the international feeling, along with a shot at being a star for once. They will soon come back to the NBA once they think they are ready, too improve in the NBA.

Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwyane Wade have all been rumored to want to leave the NBA. Out of those three, I think only one will leave. That is Kobe Bryant. For him, rather than grow old in the NBA, he would rather go to where he spent much of his childhood, in Italy for more money and keeping his stardom as well as childhood memories(maybe). Dwyane Wade and Lebron then would stay simply to rule the NBA market once Kobe's gone. They will be the face of the NBA, and will get much more endorsements than they already have. They will enjoy that, and while they might still make a little less money(or a lot) they would not leave that shot at super stardom.

That's it for this blog. I hope you enjoyed it, and see you next time. Until then, see ya!

Stephon Marbury is history

This whole thing is pathetic. Guys switching leagues because the Euro is worth more than the dollar? Europe has a pathetic fanbase for basketball and say goodbye to all those big dollar American endorsements overseas.

You mentioned that these players are less talented - they are indeed less talented compared to a Lebron James or a Kobe Bryant freak athlete type. But how much less talented are they? Carlos Aroyo has been a started on a few teams he has been on and faired pretty well. Josh Childress is a 6th man, a 6th man on an NBA team is still pretty good.

It is possible that the Greek Teams such as Olympiacos and Panathinaikos are trying to broaden their fan base. It definitely perked my interest. What would be interesting is since Childress and Arroyos moved over, how much have Google and Wiki searches for words such as: EuroBasketball, Olympiacos, etc gone up by?

Calling Euro competion inferior doesn't hold anymore. Remember an Israeli team whipped the Raptors not too long ago (at their home - probably playing NBA-type rules so that FIBA rule excuse doesn't really hold).

There are a few more games this season, everyone agrees that the gap is closing. Real business gunious would figure out how to get what they want (Gates got Windows from Apple), like wise if these Billionaire Euro owners want Lebron, they will court him and will not use emotional rhetoric to do it but top notch business logic - presented to another human being who wants to up his/her game from a financial perspective too. I guess time will tell...

The threats to leave are more of a negotiation tactic than anything else. The agents just want to light the fire under NBA team owvers and float these empty threats in order to try to attempt to bid up their value. Smoke and mirrors.
We might lose a couple of guys at the tail-end of their careers, but who cares?

Changed your avitar, you have.

Miss Yoda, I do.

Nevertheless, you are correct about this. At this point it's just a financial ploy.
