Here on FanNation I try to keep my non-sports related life and thoughts away from here.  When I talk on here I try to generally keep it about sports..or I'll make a random analogy and try to relate it to sports in my blogs.  But, this blog I feel like I need to get a little political.  As everyone knows the Olympics have started, normally during the Olympics people try to put politics and things of that nature aside.  But, it just can't be ignored during these Olympics.

The President of the International Olympic Committee basically said that he hopes that during these Olympics people get a chance to see the real China.  But, people have gotten a chance to see the "real" China...the real China has a controlling and manuplative government.  The real China's government has complete censorship of everything..and I'm not talking FCC style censorship..but complete censorship of everything.  People know the real China.  I'll admit the history of China is compelling..the little that I know about, I'll know more about it eventually.

Rightfully so, China has a not so good image internationally, and it annoys me that people think that hosting 2 uneventful weeks will just erase all the horrible stuff that China has done or that China supports.  The Olympics are just going to be a side note...hopefully a postive one, but either way a side note.  As I said before 2 weeks aren't going to make up for a lot of crap.

During the Olympics we're all supposed to just put all the political stuff behind us and just focus on the great competition that's going on.  It's next to impossible to just, at least temporarily, put aside all of the political stuff in China.  It's frustrating, at least to me, that the United States Olympic Committee doesn't really want the US athletes to speak about what's going on in places like Darfur.   Like Lebron and Kobe said..they're not polticicans..but at least stick with the stand you took earlier.  What does it matter if you say something..it's not like any of the Chinese people are going to hear about..because all negative things from outside press that criticize the Chinese government are never read by the Chinese people.  This goes to all of the athletes..you people have the grandest stage in all of sports...use it.

Well, there you all have at least a little bit of my non-sports related thoughts.  Even though this still had a bit to do with sports.  Let me know what you thought.  Thanks everbody
