Do not get me wrong, guys, I admire your diehardedness, for lack of a real word, when it comes to irish football, me being a UNC fan and all. But don't you think it is ridiculous how much attention the Irish are still getting, when they are, in fact not that good. Let me explain. While they have won many many games over their history, and even in the last decade or so, there are no championships, correct me if I am wrong, over that time, to go in the trophy room at South Bend.
College football is a game, in my opinion, of what-have-you-done-for-me-lately. What I mean by this is that you cannot honestly tell me that Notre Dame deserves as much attention as USC, Texas, LSU, Ohio State, etc, teams that have actually done something in the past, and by something I mean winning a championship. Notre Dame has not won one since, I do not know when, somebody comment me with that. It is ridiculous how NBC televises every one of their games when they are getting demolished by Michigan, remember that Irish faithful, and other teams.
Finally, it is extremely unfair to assure the Irish a BCS bowl bid for a 10 win season. No other independent is assured that, and while, it is true, that ND's schedule is far tougher than any other independent's, no doubt about that, it is still ridiculous how much undeserved attention they are getting.
Actually, I have one more point. Jimmy Clausen is not God. He has done nothing yet. You guys are treating him like a hero. Relax. What if he does not live up to that hype. You will ridicule Coach for that and want his head. That is my take.
