Charlie Batch, Steelers 2nd string QB, was injured thursday night w/ a fractured collarbone during the Steelers preseason home opener vs the Eagles. This type of injury is not necessarily considered a serious, however, it will sideline Batch for at least 4-6 weeks plus a regimen of physical therapy. Not to mention, the injury occured on Batch's right collarbone. This is unfortunately his throwing arm. Chances are that Batch will be able to return to the field sometime in the middle of the regular season.
With this in mind, the Steelers have opted to bring in veteran QB Byron Leftwich (28 years old) for a practice session on monday. Leftwich is a very familiar face to many a Steelers fan. He was the former starting QB for the Jacksonville Jaguars. No decision will be made to sign him on the squad until after the Black n' Gold have a chance to see his skills on the field..... This former Foe of the Steelers might just become a Friend to the Steel-Town in the end.....
